Hello all. I need either an updated shock and mount for a rear shock for a 1999 S3. From what I understand, the shock for later tube frame bikes is the same. As an alternate, I would also consider an aftermarket shock, if reasonably priced. I just cannot afford a new OEM or aftermarket right now, and my S3 is sitting with a bleeding shock, just begging to be ridden. Any help would be much appreciated. PM me if you have parts to help.

I have some shocks from a 98 or 2000 M2 Cyclone?

"Fitment" is as easy as 16.5" or 14.5", those're your only 2 choices for a tuber. And you can change a bracket to fit the "other" size.

I've got this 2K X1 that I'm parting out If you've got the time to wait, I have to set-up the Mikuni carb before I can start tearing it down, maybe a couple of weeks.

Is the bracket for the 14.5 inch shock specific to an S3? If not, will the bracket from any upgraded tuber work?

Not specific, pretty much any tuber should work as long as it is for short shock.
You can get the Showa shocks redone by a good suspension shop, set up for your weight/riding style for about 1/2(or less0 than a Penske, etc.
I used Aftershocks in Palo Alto CA.

My shock measures 16.5 eye to eye. I don't know how to add pictures. Shock has some road grime on it. Has laid on plywood for 1 1/2 years no oil on floor. Any body interested?
