I'm not following. How am I going to save money paying list price? When I register the bike here in Texas, I have to pay the tax. I'm not a liar, so I would have to pay tax on the sales price.

Look, the way I see it is simple. This will have none of the Xtra charges that add a ton to the cost, finance charges, dealer prep, delivery, state tax will be different per state but the amount you choose to tell them is on you. Go back and look at the one guys post about his "DEALER COST" @ $9,695, then look at the "FINE PRINT", hell just read what I posted in reply to his post. Some people are trying to make this a big deal and I just dont get it, if your not interested then leave it be.

Delivery/shipping and dealer prep are two charges one would avoid. Finance charge? That'll still hit you if you need to finance the purchase.

I think folks are trying to point out that the bike is unlikely to sell from an individual for the same price one could purchase it at a dealership.

Many dealerships will offer a discount, a real discount off of MSRP.

Are you willing to take an offer? If so, that may help spur interest.

The good thing about this is that we'll get to find out EXACTLY what it's worth when the willing selling and a willing buyer swap cash.

Let us know.

I've seen folks get their eyes opened on Lemon Law stuff. Sometimes they don't realize that the "buyback" price, by law, is adjusted for depreciation using mileage.

It's no fun to watch a guys face who's gone to all the work to do the Lemon Law routine. . . "wins" and gets handed a check for what he paid less the 15,000 miles he out on the bike deducted at $0.55 per mile.

It's kind of a stunned . . . "but wait . . . " look.

Lemon Laws are much better levers than solutions.

Keep us posted and let us know what the bike sells for.

98, put yourself in a potential buyer's shoes. You can buy a new bike for $10,500 plus tax, tags, regis, doc fee, delivery fee from a dealer. You develop a relationship with this dealer (i.e. when service and warranty work is necessary they will remember you bought the bike from them). Most likely you can get them to sell it to you for $10,500 + tax (waive all the other fees). Without trying too hard most dealerships will do this to make a sale. Plus they'll probably give you 20% off accessories or something like that. Or you can buy a bike from a person whom you don't know (no comfort of knowing the dealership isn't screwing you) for the same price and get none of these benefits. And your example of telling whatever state you paid whatever for the bike is really not gonna work to avoid high sales tax - any state I have ever heard now uses MSRP/Blue Book values to calculate tax - they are not stupid - they know people do this. So really, is it that hard to understand why people are questioning this price????

Uhm this bike will have all of that except the "doc fee". I'd have to pay tax, title/register it in Illinois and somehow get it from Cali to my house.

You wont have to pay title fees as they were paid by Christian.

He WILL have to pay the title fees when he puts the bike in his name, you can't title a bike for free, anywhere, and you still have to pay the taxes on top of it...

i got the 12scg for 10,900 and change, tax, tag and title, out the door and i'd be more than happy to show anyone my receipt. if this guy really wants to make it a deal to someone he'll suck it up, take the loss and sell it for what ever blue book says it will go for. rotzaruk is sending his wife becky down here in tampa to pick up a 9r today for 3300. we picked my buddy up an 02m2 with 2600 miles on it for 3500. these are great deals and these guys who are selling or have sold the bikes are great people for giving them the good deals. if he is dead set on trying to get rid of the bike at that price he should just set the thing on fire because no one in their right mind is going to buy that thing for 10,900. sorry but he needs to bite the bullet, this is no deal to me.

Just curious. Isn't this a forum for bikes for sale and not a dispute forum? If people don't like the price he's offering, PM or e-mail him but why bust his chops here? And depending on where you live and shop, that price might be a deal. Where i live, if you can buy a Buell or HD for anything less than 20% over MSRP you're lucky. At least that's the way it was when I worked there. And one of the reasons I left. Anyhow, I just don't think it's right to stomp on this man's listing.

Have a Happy and Safe Memorial Day!

Also, when it comes to the 07 XBR for 10,000 bucks w/13 miles, whats wrong w/ that? Do you here me saying send me a check, or I'll have someone pick it up and pay you then? NO YOU DONT! I'm not hiding anything, the bike is right here in Bakersfield for anyone to come see, I'll start it, you can sit on it but you cant ride it because I dont want to put the miles on it, why and how does that smell, fell, or sound FISHY? I would like a moderator to please remove all negative replies about this post, thank you.

I think you unintentionally set yourself up for it with the "Deal of the century" heading.
Even if you think it is a good deal do you honestly think it is as good a deal as your ad suggests?
Perhaps just a bit over enthusiastic with your wording but probably didn't deserve a beating for it.
Anyway, best of luck and hope she finds a new home soon.

I myself am looking into 12R's and your buddy's seems temping. and it is true around me 12R's are going for around $12,600 OUT THE DOOR. That is all the dealer B.S. and taxes and what not. Seminol is selling them WAY CHEAPER... w/ shipping it is below MSRP. If you guys were in Michian I may have stopped by, but Cali is a bit far. Good luck w/ the sale, and relax the flaming will stop sooner or later... I hope

>>>Seminol is selling them WAY CHEAPER... w/ shipping it is below MSRP.

The customer, under the Harley-Davidson dealer contract, is required to PHYSICALLY appear at the selling dealer.

This has it's roots in the days when folks were trying to buy up anniversary bikes.

Don't get me wrong . . . .there are plenty of ways to circumvent this but any dealer who is offering to sell and ship you a bike is outside the bounds of their dealer contract.

This is where the "fly and ride" sale came from . . . I do believe.
