Look msrp is just that, this will have NO tax, finance charges and that crap the bike is in Ca. Its black w/ red accents. When I say no miles I mean that it has not and will not be riddin. look, A friend had an 05 that was nothing but trouble, the dealer and H.D. got together and made him a deal thus avoiding court, he has lost the taste of Buell so its up for sale. He has came out of pocket so for that price he can break even.

This would be the deal of the NEXT century...

Seriously, as far as the "NO tax" thing: Won't the buyer have to pay tax in whatever state they register it in anyway??

In addition, whomever HD made any deal like that will have to register the bike before they can transfer title.

Ask your friend if HD gave him a blank title?

If you were providing someone with a replacement vehicle would you ever NOT have a title with their name on it and a contract that they accepted the bike in full settlement and hereby forever release, hold harmless and so forth.

Anyway yo cut it. . . it's a used bike. Figure $8K.

Something just sounds fishy.

Fishy? Instead of doing it as a lemon law candidate they gave him a new one and took his old one, he did come out of pocket about 1800 bucks. Is'nt that pretty simple?

Are you guys serious? Look if you dont want the thing then keep your mouth shut. If you have nothing GOOD to say then say NOTHING! This is in no way a scam, and I have taken some offense to the suggestion other wise. I'm not a new comer on here, I know several people on here by face and have delt plenty in the classifieds.

No one is intending to offend you. If I did, I apologize.

The fact is your friend can not "pass through" a bike that was provided him as consideration in any sort of settlement.

Let me ask you, just so I understand. . . is your friend offering an untitled MSO?

Perhaps I am misunderstanding.

If so, there will still be sales tax when the buyer registers the bike. Unless tax laws have changed.

Bottom line is it is neither the "deal of the century" nor a particularly attractive deal.

It doesn't sound like they gave him a bike, it sounds like they offered to trade him a new one for $1800.00. He was probably "upside down" in the other bike and even though he has a new one now he has nothing to show for the last 2 years of payments he has been making because he now owes full book on this bike.

We used to see this a lot in the car biz. We called it paymentitus. Someone gets in overthier head and they start finding things wrong with thier car. They push the lemon law and try to get the manufacturer to buy it back so they can get out from under it. What usually happens is the manufacturer usually offers them a good deal on a new car but what they are really doing is putting them deeper in dept.

I'm sure you will say I'm way off and I may be but I've seen it dozens of times and this one smells of paymentitus.

Regardless of how and why he has the new bike, it is priced too high no matter how you look at it. My local dealer has new 07 models sitting in the show room with $9695 marked on the sticker everyday.

"Price, if shown, does not include government fees, taxes, dealer vehicle freight/preparation, dealer document preparation charges or any finance charges (if applicable). Final actual sales price will vary depending on options or accessories selected.
NOTE: Vehicles with a price of "Request a Quote" are always included in a $0 search, regardless of actual value. Now I wonder what the end price would be after all that? This bike will not have any of those charges and its the same thing. Sure he was upside down in the 05 who would'nt be if they bought it new? He 05 was simply a LEMON and thats why they did it, he owes less than the bike would sell used for right now. Look there are NO secrets here just passing on a good deal.

...still haven't answered the question 98...does or does not the bike come with a clear title? You (or at least your buddy) is in for a serious shock when he finds out his name is on the title, hence, it is a used bike, regardless of the fact that it has 0 miles on it. The 'next' owner will not be titling the bike as new, period.

It has 13 miles on it, none put on by him, it is in his name but the principle still remains the same. This is a new bike no matter what, yea so it got a name on the reg, big deal, is it a big enough deal that you would'nt want to save the money?
