Hey,

I have an internal disk Supertrapp exhaust for my '97 S1 Lighning (upgraded to WL 2 1/2").

Does anyone know where I can get a "hanger" for this exhaust?

Thanks.

- Bud

They changed the hangers a couple of times on that pipe. I wouldn't take any chances with older hangers that may snap. Contact American Sport Bike or Supertrapp directly and buy the latest'n greatest.

Henrik,

I had called Supertrapp and was told the pipes are discontinued and they have no parts for them. I asked if they could direct me to any dealers/distributors who may have parts -- and they said no, and that I wouldn't find any, since they sold the parts with the pipe. Made me not want to deal with Supertrapp in the future ...

I just sent an email to American Sport Bike to see if they have any parts.

Otherwise ... hoping someone on the Bad Weather Web may have one kicking around ...

Thanks.

i just got one from them in june, i called them and told them i had the old flimsy one and it only lasted a week. they sent me a new beefier strap on their dime...
i was trying to get them to swap mine for the newer style since these are known to split and launch people... no dice though. ive just gotta keep an eye on it. ive got it strapped on pretty good though.
supertrapp seems to have gone downhill when it comes to cust. service on our buells lately. i read the threads about the IDS system and alot of guys got theirs warrantied for the newer ones... not me though, the lady in cust svc. was a real bitch to me actually actually. i asked her about loyalty and liability and she told me to go with another brand if i was worried about their pipe! geez!
id call again and tell them that you need that part before someone gets hurt...
good luck!

Sorry to hear that. Supertrapp were good about sending me the new straps - but then that's gotta be at least 3 - 4 years ago.

I'd say stay on them. I'm sure they have stuff kicking about in a back room. Al at American Sport Bike may have some contacts and be able to arrange something?

I have an IDS and due to the "front breaking" concerns had reinforcement welded on to the front of the muffler. It's held up fine so far. Of course the welder used low grade SS so there is now a bit or discolorations, but I can live with that.

Hey J, and Henrik,

Al, from American Sport Bike, got right back to me ... but hasn't the part on hand.

I saw, on an old post, a customer service rep for Supertrapp -- with his # and extension #. He's out of the office until next week ... I left a message for him, and I'll try him next week.

It is surprising that Supertrapp wouldn't keep some parts on hand for their discontinued products. Especially if the parts were breaking in the past ... and would pose a safety issue. If they exhausted (no pun) their supply of extra parts -- that would probably tell them they are breaking, and maybe, for safety sake, they should make some more available.

Thanks for the input.
