Once you purchase a Buell, you own it for life, unless you just about give it away: )

Hey Five, I considered your bike but the D&D exhaust, polished rim lips, custom tag mount, flush mount turn signals were a turn off for me. Others may feel the same and that may be the reason it's taking a long time to sell.

no mike748, buellshyter is right....I cant sell this bike to save my life. no matter what is done to it, its still a really slow, decent handling, pile of loose bolts. "harley/buell the easiest way to turn gasoline into noise without the side effect of horsepower"

Pile of loose bolts? Why didn't you tighten them? The factory uses digital wireless torque wrenches and logs the torque of every bolt. It didn't come from the factory w/ loose bolts.

Decent handling? Set the suspension right. That's one of the best handling bikes ever made. That's not just MY opinion.

Comments like that...

I hope you can't sell it and end up eating the cost : ). Good luck with that. Maybe after a while you'll "get it" as they say. Maybe not?

My offer is $500 : ), but you'll need to take the chrome heel guards off of it.

What's an "SI" model anyway?

IF it's sole purpose is to use fuel... At least it does it very efficiently : ).

I bought the bike hoping it would be everything the "numbers" says it was....bullshit! I was a sucker for sales marketing. as for the suspension, its set perfect to my weight, professionally set. it handles decent(not great) you need to ride a 636, or an R6 and then we will talk about handling. i polished the rim lips b-cause the factory powder coat was grossly uneven, so i removed it. and your comment "get it" get what that I have a bike that revs out to a whole 6700rpms, has no speed at all, and shakes itself to death. eating the price, yeah i will...but remember ALL you jokers own a Buell as well, good luck right back at ya! "digital wireless torque wrenches" the fact that you know that makes you a freakin super dork. you are probably all excited that buell has come out with a adventure bike....on/off road huh...i can hear the magazines actricles now "not only does it suck on tarmac, but it equally blows in the dirt" as far as milar's comment....i am trying that next thanks (SI was XB12S I..forgot the space sorry typo police)

50+mpg and riding it like a raped ape, I second M1's opinion, does a nice miserly job of using that petrol stuff. I think Buell's actually do have the side effect of horsepower, at least that's what the guy on the sporster thought today. Ditto Rubberdown I agree....

I smoke'em in the twisties all the time. No big thing. I had a 636 by the way wow what a drag strip queen. I switched from a bike that got a max of 38 mpg to one that gets 50+ and I always have a smile on my face. I'm a real loser. Merely mocking your comment that was basically putting down a bike that I love remember "harley/BUELL fastest way to yada, yada, yada don't knock a product when you're on a board dedicated to it. How do people like this get admitted anyway. Maybe we should have some sort of actual vin inspection before you can be allowed on this board. I realize that these bikes aren't for everyone but dang. And I didn't want to beat the guy on the "cruiser:its a SPORSTER" but he just kept eyeing me and revving his bike up.

I also own a Ducati, and like the Buell every bit as much. How come the 600's and dare I say some 1000's can't keep up with me when I'm on the Buell?! Sorry it's not everything you hoped it would be. The grass is always greener as they say.
Just ask some people that were at the Braggin' at the Dragon trip. Hell, Honu on his "slow" 9R was walkin' 90% of them. Yeah, they're not the fastest bikes, by far, but a lot has to do with the rider. Maybe you aren't as fast as you think you are.
Believe me when I say I hope you can sell it and get what you think you want. I, for one, wouldn't want to ride something I didn't like.

i went 11.88 at 115 mph....with a 1.89 60ftr got off my bike, jumped on a friends 99 zx-9r...did a 2.00 60ftr and went 10.72 @ 134.5.....hmm that seems a bit different..remember burner I actually own a buell, and im trying to sell it. listen I dont want a 600, i want a bike that has MUCH more potential....the buell is so limited...and yes i run away from everyone on the twisties...but when we have to take the interstate home to out run a storm, i get wet, they dont..

See, you didn't say you were a drag queen. The XB's aren't really cut out for drag. They're a little too butch for all that. Have fun though... to each their own they say : ).

Super Dork... I'm literally laughing out loud. That's great, Thanks : ).

So uh... What's an "XB12S I" then? Is that like an "XB12R Type-R"? That roxorz wit the leet ride skillz dood...

Did you mean "L"? Your "L" pegs would suggest that's the case : ).

TWENNEH FO' SPINNAZ BEEEEOTCH!!!!

So anyway... If you just wanna go fast... Get something else, that's not what these bikes are about. Maybe one of these days you'll get it. It's all good. It takes a while for some people. No biggie.

In case you missed it... The "numbers" pretty much coincide with the performance you got out of it. The literature says 103HP, the 1/4 mile time on the website isn't much quicker than you ran. Who pulled the wool over your head then? Maybe you just put your hat on too tight? I don't know...

Have a good time though : ). I'll still give you $500 for it... Take it or leave it man... It's up to you.

Just out of curiousity, how long do you run your Inline 4 at 135+ mph on the interstate? If you wanted a bike to demonstrate who's got the biggest speed "balls" to your friends, then you should have brought a Busa. I find it funny when people come on here and "whine" about their Buell. I have no problems keeping up with a I-4 in the curves and really don't care who passes me in the straights. I think what set me straight were two things... 1) seeing my buddy in hand cuffs on the side of the road for doing 130mph on the highway. 2) Having 30 bikes on a ride and all of them looking the same except mine. I hope your able to sell your bike, I hope that get the speed bike of your dreams and more importantly I pray that you don't crash your new bike trying to out run a storm. Keep the rubber side down..Semper Fi

You stated " never raced" but you go on to say, in later posts, that you can't keep up while trying to outrun storms with your buddies. While reving to the max doing 125 mph might not technically be considered racing, the affect on the mechanical parts is basically the same.

Look, different strokes for different folks. Why do people need to be so competitive about their bikes? Why can't we appreciate the various engineering and aesthetics that make motorcycles so interesting. I'm not a chopper dude but they sure are eye grabbers. I don't have any desire to go 200 mph but Busa's sure are fast. I don't want to cruise but Harley's do that with style. I want to ride something small, lightweight, has decent power, handles exceptionally well and is as rare as a moon rock, so; I own a Buell.

So, FiveO wants to go fast. That's cool. He's probably young and dumb and will end up like the various clowns I see here in the DC metro area, weaving in and out of rush hour traffic doing 100 mph on the beltway. Recently, one popped a wheelie doing about a 100 and drifted over into the fast lane only to be run over by a semi. Good luck, FiveO

never raced as is never seen a road course. I am 25, and this is my 8th(or so) bike....135+mph is great for a ninja 250...I actually got passed by one the other day and couldnt catch him. I personally thought the big bad 1200cc Buell would have more pull out of 65mph corners, I was wrong...whining..yes i am, complaining about the fact that you ALL think Buell's are so great, in when they really are the definition of normality. the reason you dont see a lot on the road is sales are so poor. talk to your local dealership, ask'em, the #'s are terrible. let me ask you experts this...why is it that a bike with a $10,995 msrp that a year old is now worth $7000 on a good day? Buell's are great bikes for people that like to talk on message forums about racing sportsters. "XB12S I bought..." is what the message should have said not XB12SI bought....you grammar geek

Just keep trying to take a poke. I wasn't going to keep fanning but I can't help it. Now I know you're lying. I had a 250 Ninja too. No way in the world that there was one going 135 those bikes make at most 35 hp. But if they're passing you and you can't keep up it sounds more like operator error and not the machine. "Normality" what in the world is normal about a buell? If I wanted to ride something that 50 other people in town have I'd buy a Suzuki, Kawi whatever. People that diss Buell just don't think about what they are saying. To act like no other manufacturer ever has recalls or breakdowns is absurd. To think that every bike has to go 200mph is absurd. Sell your bike and let it go. I don't go back to the ZX6r forum and let them know that I can't stand the monotone drone coming from their bikes, and I don't rag them because I can eat their lunches while I wait for them at the end of the twisties. Did you not test ride the bike? A test ride will tell you a lot, but try that with another bike manufacturer. A lot of pent up anger there I guess the speed fix is what you need to vent it all out. I'll bet Blake likes it when we waste bandwidth with this crap.

Five0rx791 just curious, did you not take a test ride before you purchased the bike? Every Buell dealer I know of has demo bikes. All of the negative attributes you so gratuitously accredit to your XB, should have been painfully obvious on a test run. I think you bought with the wrong expectations! A little paper research would reveal that a Buell is not going to be the fastest straight line bike out there. Buell has a very good history of producing bikes with excellent handling qualities. The one I own as well as the one I'm getting ready to buy will handle as well as ANY stock bike.

Sounds like a case of buyers remorse! Don't blame the bike for your unrealistic expectations. After all, you're trying to compare a pushrod V-Twin to a DOHC I4.

As for brand awareness, You won't find a group of more diverse brand owners than on this site. We've all owned our share of various bikes be they asian, British or anything else.

I truly hope you can sell your bike. I would recommend doing a bit more research though, before making your next purchase.

"talk to your local dealership, ask'em, the #'s are terrible"

Uhhh, the numbers. As in the Buell Motorcycle Coorporation'n numbers are terrible or that dealer's numbers are terrible...

Buell is doing quite well in pretty close to all respects with regards to where they want to go. All of the ones I can think of at least... I'm not a market or cooporate analyst though...
