I really don't think they understand, they have taken a perfectly good X1 and turned it into a big old piece of crap.

Shops like that are why buells have a bad rep they keep trying to make them the HD every one knows. In stead of trying to sell Buells as the great bikes they are.

Lot of folks on the chopper forums looking in here for donors, so no surprise they'd try to sell their bikes here........

Isn't it a Buell website, who needs to move on?

There are a few folks on the site here doing that sort of stuff somewhat openly, one person even started a business of doing it.

Business is business, bikes are bikes.

I can understand the concern (?) for not wanting to take good S-1's, X-1's & other valued buells as "donor" bikes BUT........... let's be realistic......... If & I say IF you have been watching the prices of these bikes (stock) start to make a climb back up (over the last year)it is truely due to the fact that people, outside the purist sect, realize that the buell IS the most advanced bike HD has ever offered and IS 1 of the best donors for a transformation.
It's really no different than taking a model A ford & "cutting" it up for a street rod - to each his own.
I realized the potential that the buell has & after riding a friends S-1 bought a low mile original 98 s-1. I was gassed at the power this animal had! My other 2 bikes are a HD bagga & a rigid shovelhead. BUT I did not get the ridding rush from those like the buell. Only 1 problem..... I'm a drag race crazed enthusiest. To feed my need I, yes me, utilized my S-1 for a redneck mutant buell conversion. Was/am I satisfied with the outcome - you bet! Do I have a grand total investment of $6048.00 in this buell - YES. Did I sell off all the usable spare parts to other buell people - yes. SO... unless you've got the cash to purchase all the used buells 4 sale then you'll have to live with the fact that people will utilize what they want to make what the want.
Did I cheapen the value of my buell - Hell no - I've been offered 13K for it. I would NEVER had a chance to resell the (stock)bike for that. It didn't even sell for that new!
So in closing I appreciate the stock buell but I also enjoy my "streetfighter" styled buell even more.
If you'd like pics I'll be glad to post them!!

Open your minds..........

Its not a street fighter its a chopper you had a street fighter it was a S1.A redneck is not a Street fighter. It doesn't do anything well now.Ride nice, handle corners, wheelie, now all it does is go straight and look ok.

Paco,
I'd like to see the pics please. Thanks.
Right now I have two Buells, want to keep one and have something different to replace the other one. Problem is though, as you noted, the market is too soft unless one does as you did to provide a marketable end result.
I also saw a neat little chopped Model-A street rod over the weekend. Basic, minimal, functional, nice as was even in primer.

BadS1,
Some say the M2 is a good bike as is, yet even you "chopped" it into something else. Doesn't matter that it was chopped into a pseudo-S1, you still took an M2 and turned it into something else. Nice end result though it was, still chopped is chopped. ; ) I'm sure some M2 purists cry when they see that done to a nice M2.
Not arguing, just typing/talking.
YMMV.

Mike I never ruined what the bike was intended to do.I chopped it and made just another Buell model. And it could be put back to original without to much fuss.

There are a lot of drag racers out there using Buells for something they were'nt designed for. ; )

He took a bike that would be hard pressed to sell for over $4500 and turned it into one that's gotten a $13,000 offer. If I could do that to my M2 it'd be converted to cash by now and I'd be waiting to see what July brings.

My ONLY issue with the ad had to do with him being a dealer and using the classifieds to solicite business. Even Robinson Motorsports who only uses the boards as far as I can see(could be wrong) for sales has stepped up and become a sponsor (according to his post which was not denied by the Admin to which that to me means its true)

We are all entitled to our opinions, and many of the opinions posted in this thread here just reminds me of the old adage,
Opinions are like Okole, everyone has one and many of them are full of Sh!te

Ditto what Wycked said.

And to clarify... Robinson Motorsports is a sponsor. Wish he'd send a banner file though to make it 100% official.

BadS1,
Sounds as if you've actually ridden 1 of these (redneck bikes).(?) Also sounds as if you got caught up in your own "choppen'" issues(?).
It would appear, to me, that you are 1 of those guys that can't stand anyone else being kinda an individual.
As far as what i have...... I'm more happy with it in it's "drag race" / "streetfighter" style than before. If that makes me ride it more (even in a straight line) that let it be.
Let it go......... grow up a bit & realize that not everyone is going to like what YOU care for in it's stock style form (oh ya - you cut you buell up too - opps!)
Get real. I've already found another 3400 mile original S1 that will go under the knife for another personal expression of myself.
Pics of my bike are @ ozcustoms.com. Now BadS1 if you'd like to purchase it I'll cut a 1,000. off just for u.
Please don't misunderstand me - I loved the buell in it's stock format I just thought that it needed (for me) a little change. I did it & I'm happy with it. It doesn't mean I want everyone else, although they can I do not pass judgement, should do it. To each his own.
I love to drag race. I like the equipment on the buell. I used what I needed & then passed, at a very reasonable cost, the parts onto another BWB person!!

nothing agents any one who chops up their bike I’ve seen a few and some I like and some I don’t I just think that if HD and the dealers would try to sell a buell for what it is instead of trying to turn it in to a standard HD so that they are easier to sell is the reason I have to drive 200 miles or get all the parts for my x1 off the net and it a 2000 but can get parts for a 70s model HD with no trouble. HD has gotten lazy in marketing they know people will come and by a HD with out having to put a lot of effort into selling them. I have seen one Vrod commercial and a Discovery channel documentary on it but have never seen a buell commercial yet. I see Yamaha Honda Suzuki Kawasaki but still no buell.

Paco sounds like you have issues with one other persons opinions. So be it.Have I ridden a Redneck??Yes I have.Cheap entry level bike and would like to build one myself. But I wouldn't ruin the Buell to do it.Thats my choice.Have you seen my old Buell???I don't think so!!!Stop into my place and checkout the show I do.You might like what you see.

I thing I forgot to mention......... I bought the S-1 from an older gent that had it parked up in front of his BMW & said he didn't have the time nor desire to get it out that often (hence the original 4400. miles when I got it). My intent is to use this bike as DAILY transportation/enjoyment/fun - possibly something you don't want to see me have (BadS1).

My only issue is guy like you that pass judgment (not opinions)on others about what they happen to do with a buell.
Please check my Buell Streetfighter out on the website I gave out..... I changed enough of the seating area so it became a daily ride.
I'll check your stuff out & hold any judgements I might have as I think the main focus is the riding of ones bike - not what you or how you deliver the package.
I don't really like jap bikes but I don't run those people down for it.

Looks like a good time.

I'm doing the smoke out & biketoberfest this yr. Maybe in the future I'll role my red tire'd bike that way. I'm trying now to add fxrp bags onto the re frame for travel storage.

I enjoy the banter/views BadS1.
