I just picked up an '06 Blast with less than 2K on it for my daughter, bike would start and idle but bogged down and stalled when trying to accelerate, was told it needed carb work. Took the carb off and it was apparent someone was in there before, decided to take it apart and check things out. Everyhting looked ok other than the knuckledragger that was in it before me stripped some bolts holding it together. Now it coughs and stalls out after running a short while. If I disconnect the TPS/enrichener harness it will idle all day long, still bogs though. I ordered a new boot as I suspect that's part of the problem. I also think the TPS needs adjusted. Is there any way to do it without a breakout box? I'm trying to eliminate problems, not create new ones

TPS is not normally adjusted

But, the enrichener is both very adjustable & if removed & monkeyed-around without being very careful on noting where it was at, will totally screw how the engine runs after the initial warmup

The enrichener does two completely different things at the same time when it's cold. It opens a secondary fuel circuit to let extra gas flow to help get the engine going. This is in effect doing the same thing as an old-fashioned choke

The other thing it does is raise the idle speed by adding some extra vacuum signal to the diaphragm on top of the carb. This extra vacuum will lift the throttle higher against the throttle return spring

A good intro to how to begin setting up the enrichener to where it needs to be is here: https://youtu.be/toYTwg2XR-0

You don't actually need to remove the enrichener, as it's adjusting collar will turn with it installed. But you do need to take the top of the carb off to visually observe the position of the plunger, just to make sure your close enough to test run it

If the adjuster is difficult to turn, then pull that and lube the o-ring with some dielectric or marine-rated grease

Once the enrichener is close enough, you just give it very small adjustments while on the bike

However, I've set mine exactly the same as in that video years ago and I've never once needed to do anything more with it since

I know when the warmup is done because the engine idle will drop down

Thank you! I tried it and it warms up and idles a lot better now, but still eventually slows down and stalls. If I disconnect the TPS/enrichener connector it will idle forever, albeit at a higher rpm. And either way it still bogs down when trying to throttle, installed a new boot and still no help

Update: I gave up on the carb and bought an unmolested one on eBay. Looks like I traded one problem for another. Bike doesn't want to start unless I cover the carb. Starts right up, then have to slowly uncover the carb as it warms up. Bike then idles and runs fine. And now it responds when you accelerate, no longer bogs down. I was thinking the enrichener needed adjusted, common sense tells me it needs to run richer when cold, took the top off and it was set to run lean. Adjusted it to run richer and still have the same problem, no change. I'm beginning to think this bike is possessed!
