A lot of times when starting out from 1st I get a belt "chirp" that resembles a slipping belt sound. This does not happen between gear shifts, only starting from a stop. Any ideas what may contribute to this.

It is a 2002 with approx. 3K miles on it (recently purchased used). Could it be the age of the belt that does this

That's usually the rear tire!!

The belt won't slip or chirp.

If it still has the Dunlop tires, they are hard and possibly the worst tires ever for the Blast. Replace them with Pirelli's and you won't believe the difference, seriously (MT75's or Diablo's).
The front brake can easily overpower the Dunlops.

Yes, I'm serious, it's probably the rear tire. VERY common!!

It'll still chirp! Anyway, it's very common for Blasters to chirp the rear tire.

Remember, you are putting over 30lbs of torque to the ground!!!!

Once the tire "warmed up" the issue disappeared. Owned a Blast the first year of production (now with my ex wife) and never remembered it being a problem but then that was nearly 15yrs ago.......some things fade out with time.

Thanks for the responses

I sprayed wd 40 on the back sprocket and that stoped mine from doing it

Probably not the best thing for your belt. "Belt dressing" would be better.
