Starting a Blast project. I have XB12 cams I would like to install. Also have an XB top end for it. The XB cam has small triangle timing marks that seem to coordinate with the dots and lobe position of the Blast cam. The slot on the timing cup looks to be out 180degrees. Am I on the right track so far and what is the fix for the timing cup?

Yes. I don't think the slot is exactly 180 out (depending on which cut-out you use), but just match up the Blast cup and re notch it.

Take lots of pictures so you remember how it all comes out and goes back in. It's been a long time since I matched XB cams up, so I don't remember all the details.

You are using an XB9 piston, correct?

Yes, XB9 piston ,barrel and head. When you say re notch you are referring to the 1 that locks the cup to the cam ?

Thanks for the link. Great read. I should have paid a little more attention when removing the cams. upon closer inspection, they are Buell B50 cams already. I will use these instead of the XB cams. Thanks for the help, Bill

Why? XB cams are better and if you've got the XB head and piston, it's a much better set-up. More power, better mpg! And you can still get good money for the B50's if they're still good.
Unless there's a specific reason you'd rather use the B50's? If you're not going to up the rev limit to 7500rpms, then stick with the B50's and use ratio rockers. My opinion, fwiw.

Notch= the part that locks the cup in place. Not hard with a punch, much easier if you have an old cam to use as a die.

Okay, I will give the XB cams a shot. Makes sense as they where designed for the head. Never had a Blast before. Will they rev to 7500? My X1 limits @ 6800.

The stock XB head will run to 7500rpms. However you'll need a different ignition as the blast cuts out at 6500rpm
