Recently (I'm talking a day or two ago) I started having issues where when I tried to shift from 1st to 2nd it would stay in neutral even if I made sure to put extra pressure and ensure that the shifting lever was all the way up. I could (usually) then just let it back down and push up again to get it into second, once or twice I had to go back down into first to get it to move.

Last night I was headed home, and while it did that, I didn't notice anything different. I stopped at a stop light, put it in first, and when the light turned green, I let off the clutch and didn't move at all. I tried all the gears (and it did go up to five and stop, then back down to one with the neutral light turning on momentarily when I shifted from 2 to 1 as usual), but no movement. I tried cutting the engine and turning it back on in hopes that there was maybe an electrical switch somewhere that it might help with (like the tilt sensor or something, I was just desperate) but nothing. I ended up rolling it into a parking lot with the engine off, then realizing I had just pushed it vary easily while first gear was engaged and my hand was off the clutch.

I haven't had a chance to pick it up yet (still trying to find someone not busy with a truck), but what should I be looking for? To me it seems like the clutch friction plate wore out and I'm getting no rotation to the flywheel. Otherwise, perhaps the drive gear got stripped? I searched the forum but couldn't find anything where people completely lost power to the wheels like that, could it be a clip or adjustment that needs to be made?

Might sound silly but, is the drive belt still on the bike?

Never had a blast, and I think they have a slightly different primary setup (at least the tensioner), but most of it is the same as the XB's (which I am more familiar with).

First, make sure the belt is still there. Stupid question I know, but it's good to be thorough and I know I can target fixate on a problem I think I have and miss something obvious.

After that, I would start looking at the clutch. It would be really unusual for that to fail without some warning (slipping) for a while first.

Might be the shift pawls in the primary. Fortunately those (unlike the rest of the transmission) do not require splitting the cases to get into.

I would think a stripped crank or transmission output shaft would be much more noisy and messy.

That's good news, I figured if something stripped it would be more noisy as well, but its good to hear that from someone else. It may be the drive belt as it was easier to push the bike than it usually is either in neutral or with the clutch in, I didn't even think to check that last night. I'll be going to pick it up soon (hopefully)

Well this will sound dumb but there is no drive belt on the bike. I guess that's what the issue was. There wasn't even a piece of one hanging or any sign that there was any issues with it, but I guess I'm lucky that it gave out when I was stopped instead of while I was at speed, whipping around and hitting me. Easy enough fix. Thanks for all the help!

It's easy to target fixate on a particular problem, and miss something obvious.

And that is great news! A belt isn't cheap, but it's the cheapest and easiest possibility for the problem you had! Yay for easy!

Super easy to replace!!!
It's very common for someone to have your issue (not just Blasts) and think it's a major issue and have some smart ass point out your belt (or chain) is gone!!. Happened a lot when chains (or belts) were not as reliable as they've become.
