Hey all you helped me once before here's hoping for a bit more.

Recently my 01 Blastard blast will refuse to start after I ride it.

The latest incident was this afternoon I stopped to grab a bite on my way to work this after noon. Maybe a 8-10 minute ride at this point. Pop into the store for 5 mins and when I come back out bike will crank but not start.

As this was right across from work and I didn't have the time to mess with it I just walked to work. When I go back to it a couple of hours later it starts up like nothing is wrong.

Things I have checked from the last incident when it did this about 2 weeks ago. I have checked the gas tank breather hose and it is clear. I also tried to start the bike with the gas cap off. Boot seems intact and done up properly. Gas is fresh and 91 octane. I ran seafoam through the previous tank of gas.

Any help would be appredciated

Do you have stock jetting?

First I would pull off the timing/points cover (ride it that way or learn how to safely pop it off) and see if the LED flashes the next time it wont start (yes, waiting for a no start situation sucks). Try starting it first, when it works, to see what the LED looks like.

Blasts are notorious for lukewarm hard starting.

and do not take the carb apart "to give it a good cleaning". Please, dont do it!

I don't know about the jets, the bike has the Vance and Hines exhaust that was put on by a previous owner but I have no idea if they did the jets. How would I know if the jetting is stock or not? I am comfortable enough to take the bowl off the carb already did it once to get the bike to start after it had sat to drain the old gas...

Remove the float bowl and with a mirror and flashlight you can look at the number on the jets (or look upside down!).
That's all that you need to do. The main jet will be easy to see, the slow jet is hidden inside a 'tube' or recess.

Did you remove the timing/points/module cover yet?

I removed the timing/points/module cover today after I got it home because the bike had issues starting again. However to get it started this time I gave the wires that lead into it a giggle and gave the cover a "love" (see your annoying the crap out of me) tap and after that the bike started just fine. So I'm assuming that that may be the issue.

Anyone else get that same thought?

It is possible. Wires and internals have been known to break. More testing is needed of course, although it might become completely obvious. Before "tapping" next time, look for the LED flash.

I plan to look at the led next time. Where I was I didn't have any real way of getting the cover off to have a look.I have since stashed a little screw driver under the seat...

Finally had it give me grief again this time with the cover off and the led wasn't flashing while it was cranking. gave the module a light tap and bike fired right up. I have already bought a spare ignition module and have it around anything special I need to know about swapping it out?

Mark the location of the old timed module and the new one, when placed in the same position,
will be close, if not spot on. At least it will give you a reference point.

The hardest part is the connector. Simple if you know what to do, hours of frustration if you don't. Do not cut and splice wires. Pull the connector and wires apart. It's easy:

Deutsch Connector Removal:
The hardest part is pulling apart the Deutsch connector (see manual). From the wire side of the plug push the green plug out with a small screwdriver (the kind used to fix eyeglasses) or other small suitable probe (slide back the rubber seal first).Then, on the pin side of the plug, in the center of the plug, are 6 small tabs which when pushed (inward, towards the center of the plug) will release the wire/pins. It takes about 5 easy minutes to pull the plug apart, but will take an hour or more if you dont know this!!!
