Hey thanks Gearheaderiko! That pretty much confirms my suspicions.

I know I haven't checked in for a while. Bike still running excellent, but inside until spring thaw and the salt-washing rains have cleared the roads here in Northern WI. Was wishing for a bit more power once last fall after an embarrassing Interstate incident in which I went to pass an annoying driver and hit a headwind and uphill as I moved over to the left lane. -I got passed on the right for awhile and was dreaming of a Kaw. Concours, but that wouldn't fit in my "stable" right now.

LOL - I once had a guy offer to trade me his Concours for my then red modified Blast - he was dead serious, and that forced me to say no.

Got the title transferred into my name today. Picking up my Blast on Friday! Then I get to buy a battery and a super boot.

Hey guys I have just a couple of questions real fast. I have not ridden my blast in a couple months due to my belt breaking last time I tried to ride, I was wondering if I have any problems starting her up if there is anything I can try to make it easier on myself? I am very new to bikes considering this is my first one. Also I am receiving my belt in the mail today and I remember needing a specialized tool but can't remember the type.

Much Thanks!

Torx T27 screwdriver or 'socket' for ratchet with extension.
You should not need to do anything special to your bike to start it.

Do Not Strip the heads on the 5 bolts you'll need to remove. On a brand new bike they'll come out easily. Older bikes that have seen poor weather and the bolts may be a little more difficult to remove. That means using a positive grip and don't let the tool slip on the bolt head.
In reality it should be really easy though! Avoid twisting the belt too much!

I did replace the belt with no problems but I think my battery might be dead so I am going to have to replace it.

Make sure you get the right kind-it has to be able to lay down on its side.
Also, Batteries from Harley are not always the most expensive and they probably have one in stock (though they might not have the Blast listing-it's a common HD battery).

How much would I be looking at for a brand new battery?

Ok instead of buying a new battery I just borrowed a battery charger and charged mine up. But, when I try to start my bike she wont fire up. It keeps turning over and never firing so I am assuming that it is my spark plug which I will proceed to change tomorrow. If that does not fix my problem any suggestions to help get it started?
Thanks

Don't change your plug. Avoid changing parts on hopes it is the cause. That usually just complicates finding what your problem is.
Diagnostics on the Blast are usually not that difficult and it will save lots of time and money if you follow simple steps.
Your bike ran fine before the belt broke? So you have to assume that everything was working fine and focus on things that actually could cause a problem just from sitting.

Is the LED flashing on the ignition module?

So I changed the spark plug and she still wont start. When I am trying to start her she chuggs and chuggs but never catches life and fires up. I was told by someone that possibly water got in the fuel is there some kind of ignition spray I might have heard about to get a fire going?
Thanks

The LED is not flashing when I turn the key. When I did pull the plug it was "wet" and black so I was told that probably was not good but my battery did die so I charged it up. So any help is appreciated : )
Thanks

It should flash for each spark signal sent to the coil, first check for loose connections - to coil, and grounds.

Concur!!!
Remember, if it ran before you changed the belt, everything should be fine. What changed? Did you drop the bike on its side? Did you do anything else to the bike except change the belt?

No flash=no spark. The module is not working. Why? Low battery? Bad safety switch? Bad connection? Kill switch turned to off?
I would charge the battery. Then unplug the headlight. The plug is located about 6" from where the wires exit the headlight housing.
Again, if it ran fine before the belt broke, then what changed since then?
Sorry if I've beleaguered that point, but very often something simple is overlooked or a seemingly innocuous modification has been made and discounted as 'harmless'.

Right before the belt snapped I dropped/set the bike down in gravel. I got it to start a few days later and when I went to take off the belt broke. It sat for about two months because of me not having money to buy a belt. Also here in Tennessee the weather has been below freezing very often. I had my bike under a cover for about a month and the second month made room in a friends garage so I could store the bike and work on it. Since the day my belt broke I have only tried to start it just a few times and have not been successful. I was worried that maybe the oil got sludgey but am not sure. I will check what you all suggest and will let you know.

MUCH THANKS!

When you say LED you mean the orange backlight for my speedometer correct? If so when I start the bike the LED does flash when I try to start the bike

Got my Blast home today. Needs a new battery. Hooked a battery charger to the cables to check things out. Was surprised to see that no mileage came up on the odometer. It was blank. Does it need to be running for that to come up? I know it has low miles. The original tires are on it and they look like new.

Buy some starting fluid at the auto parts store. Spray that into the air box to start the bike, but DO NOT use it to keep the bike running.
Did you crank the bike over with a spark out and grounded against the engine to see if there is spark?

Was the spark strong or week - here are examples of strong spark - http://buellridersonline.com/forum/showthread.php? t=8992 - if it is a weak yellowish spark - I would replace wire - 4.99 at auto zone (15N) - and check coil for proper operation - see manual for coil diagnostic.

Okay so I used the starter fluid and it took a minute or so but she fired up! I proceeded to warm her up and then take a short ride. I had the thought that possibly the starter fluid was the only reason that my bike started but I let her cool down and then came back to start her up. First try she fired up and I took her for a longer ride this time.

I am FINALLY blasting around town again. Thanks for all the help EZ and Gear I really appreciate it : )
