Hey Guys,

So, weird problem that I have not figured out yet and really need some help on. I just picked up a 2007 Blast with 400 miles on it for cheap. The bike was sitting for a while. The bike starts and idles like a champ however, when I apply the throttle, the bike dies quick.

The manifold coupler is good, replaced the carb from my other blast, other bike still runs fine. Drained and replaced gas. Feel suction from L side air filter hole. The only thing that seems to work to get this bike to throttle fully is if I spray starter fluid into the air filter from the left side.



Like I said, the bike is brand new with 405 miles on it.

I have another blast that runs flawlessly and would be willing to swap parts out until I get the problem solved.

Try checking the tank vent for blockage.

Blueblast- Thanks. Just checked, fuel vent line is fine and bike does same exact thing when gas cap is off/loose.

Has there been any modifications or 'repairs' to this bike?
If you swapped carbs and the problem is still there then it's not the carb (I did read that right? You didn't swap carbs back to the original bikes?)
It's not a California bike, right?

You are correct, I swapped the carb out for one that I know works. The bike has not had any work done on it (only 400 miles) aside from an oil change. The bike is not a California bike. Even with the carbs swapped, the bike still does not throttle fully unless I spray starter fluid into air intake hole.

Will it ever "throttle up", like if you let it warm up?
Did the owner sell it telling you it had this problem?
At 400 miles I'd have to assume everything mechanical in nature is good and since you changed out the carb, that the intake system is good. A bad intake o ring could cause this, but at 400 miles?
Check compression (with a gauge). It's possible this bike has bad rings from never being properly broken in and sitting for a long time.
Nothing has been taken apart? Timing/points cover ever removed? I'm inclined to think ignition now. If the timing has never been touched, there's no reason to think its bad now (the bike got 400 miles somehow). So next would be bad spark plug, coil, wire or module.
Again, at 400 miles on the clock, there has to be an assumption that certain things are okay, limiting exactly what to look for.
Is the bike noisy? Such as it could have a collapsed lifter from sitting.

No, the bike will not throttle up if I let it warm up. No, the timing cover is still on.

The only way the bike rev's up to a normal standard is when I spray starter fluid into the air filter from the left side.

Still unsure as to why it's doing this! Driving me crazy for sure.
