So I re-routed my pcv valve drain. I switched the T to the other side and capped it off with an Oil breather filter. I took the blast out for a 30 minute or so ride today and when I got back I let my little brother ride it around the yard for a bit. When he stopped I noticed the oil breather cap I had installed was smoking.

My hypothesis is that it got too hot with him going around the yard in first gear and started blowing oil out the pcv valve thing. How does that sound?

Smoking after the engine was shut down?

Smoke is somewhat normal. The thinner the oil the more smoke you'll get.
Also, it can blow oil out of that line, depending on the condition of your engine. So watch it carefully until you know. Some Blasts will blow out a lot of oil, some none at all.

FWIW: as long as the PCV line is vented, you don't need the T. You can completely bypass the air box, if you wish. But your way is perfectly acceptable.

Just checking. It is a 2000 so I wouldn't be surprised if it blows a lot of oil. I'll just start checking the level on the dipstick after every ride to make sure.

Thanks.

edit: it wasn't smoking after the engine was shut down, but did smoke while it was running.

Normal.

Sorry, I meant it will actually blow oil out the breather and coat your bike with a mist of oil. Again, might-might not.
Always good to check the oil after a ride though!
