2008 buell blast 2100 miles
alright so recently my blast has been running like complete shit and it seemed to come on all of the sudden.
when i fire it up in the mornings it will fire up fine and idle up and seem fine and then as the idle drops it starts to sputter real bad and i have to keep giving it gas to keep it alive and when i give it blips of throttle it acts as almost its getting to much fuel.
once i start riding it, it seems to run fine as I'm riding but when i come to a stop light or something and it has to idle its all i can do to keep it alive as it sputters and the engine will almost like jerk back and forth and sometimes it'll make a popping noise of some sort and i can feel it real bad from the air box area like its popping from the air box.
also I've noticed recently that its been popping more on de-accel and when sitting as i blip the throttle to keep it running it'll kind of pop/backfire too.
i pulled the air filter and it was rather clean but the airbox had a oily/gas residue in it.
im leaning to believe its a air/fuel mixture issue with the carb but not really sure where to start with this one.

the boot that connects the carb to the engine im assuming.
not sure what everyone calls that thing. also if someone had a part number or and DIY guide that would be very helpful

heres a video it is idling better in this video but i think thats because ive been riding it all day but if you watch the carb to when i give it throttle to the delay youll see its loading up on fuel and might be able to hear some backfiring too

Yes. Replace the boot. You have a vacuum leak in the boot.

Make sure you tighten the "radiator hose" clamps JUST RIGHT ... too loose they leak, too tight they destroy the rubber ... be gentle ...

alright good to know. i think i might take a small piece of a rubber to put between the metal clamps and the rubber hose piece to keep the metal from wearing into the rubber hose over time too

You'd be better off getting a reinforced Super Boot from Dan. "Thumpe" on badweb.

I just bought an 03 and the previous owner told me they just had the boot replaced at the HD shop....But it was still acting up when I bought it...Sprayed some brake cleaner around the intake area and found that the intake MANIFOLD was leaking air at the head...I guess that oring got flat or something...But I removed and used a little silicone and re installed the int. manifold and all is great now....I un capped the a/f screw while I was there and adj. it to 2.5 turns...

Silicone can gum up your engine, a new o-ring will not.
