So I broke Gearheaderiko's rule about not tearing the carb apart. I was having boot problems and thought I'd get ambitious and clean the carb out a little bit because it had been sitting for 2 years. I took it apart, took out the jets, cleaned them, put them back in, put it back together. It started up the on the first try and died under throttle like it had before but now it wont start at all. If I spray brakekleen it will start but not by itself. I need help. Erik im sorry but any ideas? EZ?

I didn't touch the electrics, I unplugged the harness and then pulled the carb off the bike.

OK - did you put the needle jet back in facing the right way? Did you make sure the slides rubber didn't get pinched or pierced? Did you use a new carb intake gasket?

Check Das Boot!!!!!!!!!

That's why I had it off in the first place. it would idle all day but when I give it throttle it would die. So I got a superboot from Dan. It came in yesterday and I put it on. Now the bike starts again but it still dies when I give it throttle. Should I replace the intake gasket next?

yes, however it sounds like your pilot 45 jet is partially clogged, however, try spraying wd40 around the boot and manifold, if you get an rpm drop, vacuum leak - either boot not on correctly or the rare o-ring failure. Also check that vacuum outlet on carb, make sure the cap is not cracked or split.

Make sure you did not pinch the diaphragm.
