So my bike is idling high, and seems to idle higher after warm up. the boot is about one and a half maybe two years old. I have misplaced the the two airbox screws that connect it to the lower left (as your sitting on the bike) but I haven't rode it very much, just down the street and back. This may have caused a boot failure. My airbox doesn't have the tightest seal to it though, but it has been like this since I purchased the bike ( about 2 yrs ago) and this is a new problem. I did change out the handle bars and it started doing this almost directly after, stopped and then started again. I was also wondering if there was a way to check the auto enricher. I have replace the ignition module, rejetted the carb, new air filter, new plug, new signal flasher, batter, and speed sensor. any help trying to narrow down the problem would help, I'm sure I am not the only one who doesn't like buying parts that aren't needed.

That means your whole airbox and carb are hanging by the boot - replace screws and boot asap - yup - it ripped.

ok so waiting on boot and airbox screws. But while exploring badweb this morning I found some very informative post on primary adjustment (that I can't find again). I looked at the primary just to see if it had been adjusted and noticed that the bolt was all the way in. To clarify, the bolt head was tightened all the the way against the nut. I can't adjust this until I replace the boot and screws but do I need to check/replace anything else?

The bolt moves a plastic shoe that the chain rubs against to make the chain adjustment. If the adjuster is all of the way in you probably have a worn plastic shoe and either are dangerously close to going metal to metal or you are already there.

Another cause of your idling high might be that who ever over tightened the primary chain reset the idle to keep the bike running with all of the tension on the chain and now that there is clearance the engine does not need the idle set that high.

BTW you are looking at the primary chain adjustment screw and not the drain plug...right? The drain plug is towards the rear and the adjuster is towards the front...

Thank you for the response, I double checked my manual to make sure I was looking at the right bolt and it is my primary adjuster that I was looking at. It wasn't idling high until recently so I am inclined to believe das boot has failed.. I have the replacement boot however I need to make a trip to the hardware store for the airbox bolts. Should be able to get that on this weekend. Do I need to crack the case to check the shoe and primary chain? I know getting the Y arm off isn't going to be fun but hwy9 is calling my name!

Also, whenever I first picked up the bike it wouldn't shift past 3rd. I had never been on a bike before and the previous owner told me it was a three speed. Rode it to the shop and back (never over 40) and it started shifting into fourth and fifth. This has been a while ago and I haven't put more than 40 or so miles on it because I have had to trouble shoot a lot (ignition module being the biggest problem)

Yeah...
I'm thinking someone was performing maintenance on your poor Blast and didn't know what the heck they were doing.

Have you tried adjusting your idle speed screw?

I am having issues with my idle and I just adjusted the mix-screw out about a turn and it seems to be running a lot better than what it was. Seemed like it was always running with an extremely high idle after I swapped the Slow Jet for a higher one. No real change other than changing that out, uncapping the idle-screw and adjusting it to 3 and a half turns out from soft bottom.

I uploaded a video to YouTube and would love for some feedback on if it is running to low for a stock idle with the swapped Slow Jet.

Well you do have to adjust the idle down when the revs go up, otherwise you're no longer running on the idle circuit. It also must be Hot, otherwise the "choke" won't be fully off. And definitely get some sort of tach to measure the idle speed ; )
