The bike is 02 blast with 298 mi. (has been stored inside it's entire life) The bike turns over fine and runs great (adjusted throttle cable and clutch, replaced battery) but I seem to be running lean or have a vacuum leak? I have built plenty small blocks, but MC's are new to me. I have taken a video to assist, from all the reading I've done in the past week on here/ in the manual I'm thinking its a vacuum leak problem. Although I'm not trying to tear into a pretty much brand new bike if I don't have to : ) .. maybe the idle mixture screw? Any help is greatly appreciated as I've always been a DIY'er so paying someone to fix it isn't ideal.. esp because I'll be back in 700 mi for the 1k stealership service! Cheers!

There are 2 normal things that cause vac leaks on the Blast.
1. The boot that goes between the carb and the intake
Fix: Replace the boot.
2. The nipple on the back side of the carb (near where the fuel lines attaches).
Fix: replace the nipple or plug the hole.

So I got the air-box assembly off and snapped a few pictures. The boot looks brand new (not surprised as its been sitting inside a climate controlled environment) could this still be cause of the leak? Not quiet sure where the nipple is you were referring too.. more info, the bike sputters out in 1st and N.(clutch in/out) Haven't tired it in 2nd or higher. Kickstand down/ up doesn't matter either.. Bought the thing to commute 2 wrk but its kind of hard to commute when the bike wont idle properly, ha! Thanks in advance everyone.

Replace boot - old rubber cracks, and nipple is the middle covered elbow on the center left of the carb.

That must be your favorite saying EZ... You clearly know more about this than I do but after removing boot I just don't see how it could be causing a leak. I added some more pictures (of boot) but I'm at a total loss.. Any super boots still available?
edit:
would you recommend re-jetting while I'm down there?

If you look at the 3rd pic in your album, it shows the nipple just behind the brass elbow of the fuel.

About 2 years is all you get out of a boot. Running bike or not. It is the 1 weak design of the bike that has not easy after market replacement part... Yet.

I would also not rejet until you fix the sputtering issue.

Roger that CH, took the bike to the dealership to get boot (about 12 mi.) and RIGHT when I got back home the bike started to leak oil. The engine was def too hot. (could feel it in on my legs) I adjusted the idle screw 3/4 a turn before i reassembled and the sputtering was completely gone, would idle fine... could a high idle overheat the engine/oil enough to leak from the drain plug? It was all over the sub-frame and inside the clutch pedal. my blast and I are off to a rough start lol. Boot will be changed tomorrow and i'll probably go ahead and drain the rest of the oil/ refill. Any more advice greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Make sure your oil line is plugged - and the line is not leaking. Connections get old - replace with hose clamps.

I agree with check the pug on the end of the oil line. Also, check to make sure the hoses are still attached good and do not have a hole rubbed in them.
While the bike has low mileage, if it was used as a Rider's Edge training bike, it will have a lot hours on the motor spent idling/ at low paint shaker speeds.

Thanks. The bike was bought, dropped in the MSF course and sat in a Ford dealership (husbands job) for 8 or 9 years. Then brother bought the bike in 2010 with 269 and put like 30 miles on it, been in his garage. So it wasn't a RE bike but everything said makes sense. I'll let you know what I figure out! Thank you for the advice.

So I took the sub/y frame off And the hoses are good, checked for holes/ cracks in the line. nothing. Should I just change oil and watch it? Never had oil just start leaking out on me.. Drain plug seal? I'm lost again.
