So I added to the stable. What do you guy's think of the Aprilla Shiver? Here is a pic with my friend on it. It has bags and a small windshield. It rides nice and seems to handle well. I wanted a sport touring bike and this fits the bill. I bought it used. The last owner was a lady who bought it to tour the US. She was from New Zealand and did a 3500 mile run and felt this bike was to expensive to ship back home. It would of cost her Shipping Plus a 40% import tax. She sold it to me instead.  | ||

So i took the Aprilia to Palomar Mountian to see how she handles. I always obey all traffic laws. She handles great. She is taking a little getting used to. More power equals paying close attention to my speed. She goes quick. You can change your line if you pick a bad one mid turn. Not a good thing unless you need to. She goes were she is pointed. My shoulders are soar. The ride position is comfortable but in the turns I have to position myself different then on the Blast. She is a good handling beast. | ||

So my wife took her motorcycle training course a few weeks ago. I have a Buell blast for her to ride. She saw the 150 classic and had to have it. I told her if you want it you buy it. Funny thing is she did.   I have to say I really like this little machine. I might ride it as much as she will. I took it for its first 40 mile trip. My wife was at work. I kept it under 50 for the break in. It rode real nice. The company used to make Honda motorcycles. They made the early CB version. SYM split off from Honda in 2003. They still made the CB for other country's. They reintroduced this little gem to the USA about 6 months ago. It is really well made. It is not Chinese. The chamber is ceramic lined and it puts out almost 14 hp. I have had it up to 50 mph and it has more to spare. I have to wait until break in to tap it. It has a cafe racer seating position. It also comes with a 2 year warranty. Electric and kick start. I must say this is a solid little machine. | ||

Neat looking bike . . . and kudos for your wife for getting caught up in the passion. MOST the bikes I've bought over the years, 9 in one year in 1987, were totally unplanned cases of "I've got to have it". Not one regret . . . I also love reading the Taiwanese ad copy . . it's like the cautions on fireworks . . they try to get the language right . . but the humor remains.  | ||

Yeah that is Rooks, half of a Baker Big Twin engine, 6 speed, Paxton supercharger, 9.5 comp.,custom cam, 800cc, Ducatti Ohlins setup from a 995 front and rear, custom wheels, lol - custom everything, said to handle brilliantly, light weight, and around 90 hp, and about as much torque, all it needs is CF wheels and a slipper clutch to be perfect! EZ | ||

Greetings, all. Another riding season in Chicago is finally under full swing again (darn you Floridians who can ride year round). After a successful (8,200 mile) season on the Kawasaki ZX 600 E12 in 2011 where I made solo trips to the Upper Peninsula, MI; Badlands, SD; and, Pigeon Forge, TN areas (along with a few group rides to central Indiana) - I traded the very capable Japanese machine in for a 2001 BMW R1100RL. Ha. The rice got me through a really good riding year. It did everything well, but nothing superbly. The BMW is more comfortable once you get out of the vibey zones, and accelerates the same at 30 as it does at 70, which is a much welcomed feature. | ||

well everyone. i traded my 01 blast customized for a 1974 yamaha xs650 long chopper with a springer front end. im gonna keep my acount open just incase i pick up another blast down the road. thanks for all the advise.  | ||

For that matter, where do you put your feet? Looks like it has a rear drum, but I don't see footpegs/a brake pedal. I definitely see no front brake. And I can't imagine it handles curves well at all... | ||

i got chrome forward controls for the bike. its gonna be a solo rider bike when im done. im not shure if im gonna run the springer or use a wideglide front end. i got it torn down and the frame is sanded and will be painted tomorrow.i also have the complete wiring harness. ill post some pics when i decide what motor im gonna run. | ||

True for half the price of that bike, not counting labor, you can have a similar powered Blast, that could handle as well, and would be of similar weight as well. Still - that is in stock trim for the KTM and their gas mileage is a lot better - lol - than a suped up Blast motor due to the FI. EZ | ||

The 390 looks kinda interesting, too. Unfortunately, the water cooling, etc adds to the complexity of the bike. That's what I really like about Blasts: Even I can work on 'em. |
