Some history: I have changed the boot and the auto enricher. I've also had the carburetor cleaned at a shop, and I've used Seafoam in two tanks of gas.

When I try to cold start my 2001 Blast, it is extremely difficult. But I recently purchased some start fluid for gasoline engines (it says it is OK to use in automobiles), and it will start immediately with that. Once I get it started, I have to give it a lot of gas to warm up the engine, or else it will die on idle. But if I give it some gas for about 20 seconds, I don't have any problems with it.

When the engine is warm, it starts up extremely easily.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be the cause of this?

Sounds too lean, like the AE isn't working ( but you changed that), the boot is bad or installed incorrectly . Regardless if both of those are good or bad, change to a #45 slow jet.
Any modifications to the bike?

Also, how old is the spark plug?
......And stop cleaning the carb.

"Sounds too lean, like the AE isn't working ( but you changed that)" Yeah, I hope I didn't buy a dud!

Are there any tests I can conduct to verify the boot isn't working correctly?

As for the change to a slow jet, I really don't know enough about mechanics to be confident enough to do this.

No modifications on the bike.

Spark plug was also changed recently. Could this be the only culprit? Because if so, I can easily be another one and change it!

(And I'm not continuously cleaning the carb, I had it done once, when I let the bike sit for a year and wouldn't start. That fixed it. I used the Seaform in that same period per the recommendation of another user, I believe.)

Hey I have the same problem. I rejetted to 46/165, replaced das boot and auto enricher. Drilled out the idle mixture plug, and backed it out 2.5 turns, new k&n air filter, and still have to cover the air box Venturi in order to cold start the bike. I don't get it. When it warms up it starts no problem, but cold it takes a few minutes to get warm
