I have a 2006 Buell Blast. Been running semi-alright for the last year (small oil leak, rear tire problem, but no noticeable engine problems). I left it home for two weeks for my dad to borrow. He ran out of gas once, was able to shake the bike to get to the gas station and fill with 93. Oil was low when I got back. I topped it off.

The bike now cuts out when I give it any more than about 25% throttle, any gear. I can creep up into higher rpm's in neutral or clutch in, but still takes a lot of coaxing to get into high rpms. I can barely get to 30 mph, 3rd gear, with a lot of coaxing and slow acceleration. It would not idle very well without giving it some light gas every 10-15 seconds. I have ridden it for about 30 minutes with no noticeable change. Does anyone have any ideas? I am mechanically inclined, but know very little about engines or motorcycles.

Um, it's probably an Intake boot... read the description here http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/150578.html

Checked the boot, it was secure. Changed the plug, no good either. Ended up cleaning out the carb and it started right up.

Unfortunately, 200 miles later, the bike wouldn't start and 30 minutes later I realized I had never reclamped the boot and it was loose. 14 days later, and now the muffler has broken at the neck, completely through. It is shifted about a full inch backwards. (had previously been welded twice). Should I get it sleeved and welded, or just buy a new one? Are the aftermarket ones worth it, or should I just go stock. I'd rather keep the bike as quite as possible, unless the aftermarket ones offer much better fuel economy.

The aftermarket ones will lose you a bit but they are better crafted then the stock one. I put a small tip on mines when it broke and love how loud it is (I have almost been hit by a miata with the stock one so loud helps me be heard a bit more) If you can go aftermarket it will give you a bit more sound a bit more power and is worth alot more then the stock one
