I recently ordered the Buell Blast standard seat from an online retailer and when the seat arrived, it didn't seem to fit right. The front right side was hanging out and the front left side was flush with the bike tank. The back left side could be pushed up and down and the back right side was flush. I sent it back to the online retailer and they told me that it's normal for a seat to be like that.

They said they compared it to other seats and it looked to be the same.

I'm thinking one of us is nuts here.

Thanks for the welcome.

I don't know if I want to bash an online retailer without figuring if I'm right or wrong on this one...

I have an '01 Blast.

If its a stock factory Blast seat there isnt much the retailer could do about it except that maybe it was stored in a twisted condition somewhere, but I'm doubtful.
I've seen seats that dont fit quite right and sometimes its because the Blast has been dropped, taken apart and not assembled correctly or the seat pin is not adjusted correctly. Sometimes they are ill fitting from the factory. Sometimes its just a bad seat.
I dont think its the retailers fault.

PS I know many of us have taken great pains to have our seats fit perfectly, especially if we bought a Corbin. Its common that they dont.

It's a factory seat. What do you mean by the pin? Are you talking about the back where it latches in?

Thanks.

Yes, the pin where it latches in.

No, not a great fit, but does probably look like all the others they have (but they might have fit better, hard to tell if its not on the bike).
I'd say try another seat. If it doesnt fit right then you might have another bad seat or need to make some adjustments on your Blast. They can be made to fit a lot better than when they come from the factory.

I've probably seen more Blasts with an ill fitting tank panel and tailpiece than I have ones that were fitted correctly (or looked like they were).

PS They are just plastic and can be bent. The cover being stretched has probably pulled the front seat tank 'tabs' back. A little time in the sun with some blue tape might make it fit better.

The Blast seats base or pans are not too sturdy. The base is thermoplastic, heating the base with a hair dryer and moving the base into the desired position can sometimes correct an issue like you have.

This worked for me.

Just be careful not to fry the vinyl. But that is a great idea!
