First off Norm, love your Royal Enfield! Old vintage bikes are the reason I'm learning to ride, so a RE is on my list for sure.. Second, I wanted to praise another American company that makes great products and has a long and storied history - KLIPSCH Speakers.. Google the history of the company and you'll find a very Erik Buell-like Paul Klipsch as the founder. They've made all their high end speakers in Hope Arkansas since like 1947 or something. Nowadays some of their stuff is made in China, but they still hand make their expensive lines in Hope. They have an amazing online community and if you've never heard a pair of Klipsch speakers, you are really missing out. Famous for how efficient they are..my La Scalas can fill an entire room with sound (114 dB) with just 2 watts of power. On Craigslist, if you find any of the older Klipsch speakers they can often be had for a fraction of their actual value...mostly because they are often very large and heavy. But large and heavy is GOOD when you want to really reproduce music at realistic volumes. That's REAL wood and you can usually refinish the speakers which usually look pretty beat up (and that's because people who own them don't want to give them up even though they look like crap). Klipsch was in a constant search to create speakers that really sound like LIVE music, and they came very very close! If you find a pair of Heresy or Hersey II speakers, La Scalas, Klipschorns (famous), etc for $300-400 on Craigslist etc, you should at least go check em out...audiophiles will tell you that a pair of $400 La Scalas off of Craigslist can sound as good or better than many modern speakers that cost upwards of $4000 a pair. Plus they are super easy to repair, modify, customize and sell to knowledgeable audio buffs. I've never listened much to their newer Synergy line, but it too gets raves on audio forums and I see them for sale on Craigslist often. Because they are so large, I think people get to the point where they are like "get these OUT of here!" and sell them at really good discounts. If you've got room for them, I promise you'll be blown away the first time you listen to em. I've got two giant "Industrial" La Scalas made in 1978 being powered by a 20w T-class amp that will fit in my hand...Whole set up cost me $259! and will rival a system that costs 10-20X more... Last one.. Again from the Mpls Bike Show. I took 100's of pics but I don't want to chew up too much bandwidth. Do you think this bike had anything to do with shutting down Buell? Getting rid of the in-house competition? This bike reminds me of a Sporty I once had... a 1979 XLCR 1000... yes I said 79.. I got in hundreds of arguments with "experts" who insisted they only made the XLCR in 77 and 78.. I understand now that they only made a couple hundred XLCRs in 79. I sold it because in 1985 it was already impossible to find parts for. I had no clue how rare it was. I replaced it with an 80 XLCH 1000 (1100?) which was also impossible to find parts for. Something about those 3 years... 78, 79, 80, all 3 were just different enough to be parts orphans.. Anyway, the squarish tank, seat rear fender and even the exhaust remind me a lot of that XLCR  | ||

No it isn't. Judging by the parallel push rods, and the shape of the valve covers... I think it's a honda. The bike next to it is a honda for sure and the engines look the same. One thing that always strikes me funny is... the kawahondyamsuki dealers rip on the HDs to no end yet they fall all over themselves trying to make their bikes look and sound like Harleys... specifically RoadKings.. | ||

Its just art. If you cant ride it "legally" on the street, thats all it is. I dont see much point in that. They copy whatever is selling. Its been Sportsters, V-rods, Softails, etc. Baggers are in, so thats what they will copy....but we both know that! The way they sell the advertising, you'd think Star motorcycles invented customizing ......wait......I'm sorry, I did promise I wouldnt use this thread for rice bashing..my bad. | ||
