Just wondering how much the front brake should "drag". When I'm pushing it around the garage, I can hear it dragging on the disc. I know that a disc brake pad should always stay in contact with the disc in order to prevent sand and other debris from getting in between the two -- however I was wondering if it self adjusts - or if there is a way to tell if it is dragging too hard.

FYI: The bike only has 600 miles on it, so the front brake may not even be broke in yet.

If you can push the bike without any trouble, you're fine. If in doubt, jack the bike up & spin the wheel. If it spins you're fine.Disc brakes by their nature self adjust.

What would make them drag really bad on a cold day, but work fine on a warm day?

Using crappy oil that was designed for warm weather but had bad cold weather properties could do that, at least until the bike got warmed up a bit.
