I was contacted by someone who has a 2002 Blast with 3, yes three miles on it! His wife rode it down the block when he bought it, and that as they say was that. It has been stored in the garage for 7 years, no recalls have been performed the fuel system is contaminated and the tires are rotten and of course the battery is toast.
other than that the bike is showroom fresh. I offered 1,200 and I'm waiting to hear from him...opinions?

Carb to engine or airbox to carb.
I haven't got the bike but I'm considering how much work it's gonna take to bring it up to readiness.

If you pay $1200, (you could probably try $1000) Even after cleaning the fuel system and replacing the boot and tires. It's still a good deal.

it's a good deal.
get the Pirelli tires, don't mess with the domflops

drain all fluids (including the gas, mix it with the lawn mower gas)and replace. replace the boot. and use a car battery to get the bike started on (more CCA)
after you get it running, replace the tires and battery.

don't "clean" the carb, just let the new gas clean it out and slowly add gunk cleaner over the new few tanks.

Carb to engine manifold coupler part #27443-00Y. It might not be bad, but its often the cause of Blast running problems.
Get a manual. I dont recommend doing anything but draining the gas until after you get it started. Fresh oil would be good, but pay attention to how much you drain out because it wont take much going back in, maybe a quart (unless you pull the crankcase drain 'plug'-thats where half the oil is now).

Its essentially a brand new Blast and unless it was stored outside for 7 years, it wont need much. The "boots" probably fine, but after a few backfires it may tear or crack from age. OEM Pirelli tyres and a new battery.

I think I concur with Crackhead in the thought that dont go pulling everything apart just cause its old and has been sitting. Get it running and gently break it in or just sell it.

The seller is sick and in the hospital so it's gonna be a minit till I get back to negotiations. As far as the carb goes the bike hasn't been started for seven years so the carb hasn't sucked up any thing outa the float bowl into the low speed jet. Petcock is off and fuel in the tank is NASTY!...as you may imagine.
The bike is shiny and pretty to look at so I'll wait for recovery and begin again.
