Ok so i have a weir?d problem on my 02 blast. the neutral light works when the bike is not running. With the stand down and the ignition off the light goes off when i shift it up or down. when the bike is running the light will not go off at all. what do you guys think it is? I posted this in the wrong post last time but have still not figured it out. Some guy said something about tightening a drum bolt. that does that mean?

From what I understand is that the light functions normally if the engine is not running. But if its running it will not go out at all?

I dont have an answer (maybe after some though)but...Do you know where the neutral light switch is? It is just in front of the front 'sprocket'. One wire connects to the switch so it works by grounding out the wire, which is probably grounded when in neutral.
First, check the switch and see if its loose. You may not be able to get any kind of wrench or socket on it, but you may get it to turn with a screwdriver (or pick, all, etc.).When its loose, its really loose!
Check the wire for tightness and any breaks or wear marks. If the engine is hot (or its hot outside) it can be troublesome to get the wire back on because the plastic/rubber gets very soft.

If you dont get an answer, this will at least get you started on one.

PS Pulley cover comes of easy, just be careful not to strip the heads on the T27 torx bolts.

I'm having the exact same problem with my '02. I just fixed the reversed polarity of my signal relay. Now non stop neutral light. Has there been any progress made on this issue?

It sounds like a grounding issue. Is there anything else happening with the bike?

Check the wires and connection - wires get loose or a short can develop from rubbing, etc.

I'm having the same issue. The bike was in storage and not starting. After replacing the plug and das boot it fired up. I drove it to work fine for a month. The owner of the bike took it for a spin after I fixed it and dropped it. . She was unable to start it. I took it back home and found the boot loose and fixed a smashed turn signal. . Now it starts again. But the neutral light stays on. Where is the switch? Front sprocket means transmission right?

Ps. I love this bike. I'm so not giving back after her performance.

Under the front pulley, right side of the engine.
