Hi Folks - I'd like to remove the stock Blast air box and put on a more compact air filter. Does anyone have any filter recommendations (part numbers)? Any special procedures for removing the airbox?

You don't have to remove the airbox to change the air filter, just the cover, K&N is the preferred.

A different intake is a whole different topic! - lol

Thanks EZ!! I'm actually researching removing the whole airbox and giving the bike a more open look. I've seen other folks do it. It looks more open around the piston. I believe some folks mentioned putting on a K&N cone filter. I've been searching online and don't know how to figure out what filter will fit the Blast Carb. I did find out that the stock Blast Card is a Keihin CV Carb (Constant Velocity). And, I think the opening to the carb is 42mm or about 1 and 11/16". I've never purchased an air filter for a bike before so I'm just trying to figure it all out before I buy the wrong one. As few folks told me that the Blast Carb is the same as the Sportster carb and there's a 'plate' that you bolt the air filter to. But I have not figured that out yet either. Any advice is appreciated!!

Yes the Blast uses essentially the same carb (Keihin CV) as a Sportster or 'Big Twin' from about 1988-2006 as well as most Buells from those dates. Most anything that bolts onto those years will bolt onto yours, but it wont necessarily fit on the bike (frame, tank or your leg may be in the way).

Aftermarket (not stock replacement) filters like K & N or UNI will clamp onto the stack.
Pull up the K & N or UNI websites for info on some of what is available. They will list dimensions.
