Welcome to the Bad Web! Banke has a nice looking set of rearsets for the Blast and about $150 dollars cheaper. I -though- like the custom crossroads best - they have a very agresive look to them even if they are more than those ugly regular crossroad items - lol - Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ

The rearsets would have to be an improvement over the stock ones--flopping about insubstantially. But at $400 or so I would hope for perfection.

Just installed the Banke's.Interestingly, you can still install the stock footpeg set up along with the rearsets still there.I.E. If you need a quick passenger set or heading on a long trip and need some alternate places to rest your legs!

I've had the Banke rearsets for sometime now and I like them. They were easy to install, took a little over a hour to install. There are a few things to watch out for once you have installed them. The first day I was dragging the pegs ( not a big deal ). Then the brake lever started to drag ( this a problem, you can fill the rear of the bike lifting off the ground ). Then this past week I started to ground the toe peg for the gear shifter. I have the gear lever set level with the bike. I fill that part of the problem is the way I have the bike setup right now. I have the forks raised about 1/2 inch in the triple tree ( faster steering ). I should have this taken care by the end of the week. I'm waiting on some goodies from Works. Plus I need to get ready for that 600 short block coming to the house.

Just installed the CrossRoads Custom rearsets. Instructions not very thorough, but got em on ok. I like the ergos. Need to figure out where to put the rear brake fluid cup. Tried zip=tying it off to the old foot peg holes, but it interferred with my right leg when at a stop. So just tucked it up under the tank cowl, behind the airbox for now. The parts are quality, pure billet Aluminum.

Yea and comfy too (you remembered to red locktight everything;0)) - though the bruises on your shins will make a lier out of you till you get use to them.lol. Their looks are pretty aggresive, also and your not going to have to worry about dragging peg (belt rim maybe - I still say the stocker just needs to come with a little replaceable rubber trim on the outer pully - lol) - The bike looks so much more serious with rear sets - Ya got Thump!? Definately Blasting on the Dark side! EZ

The Bankes seem a good quality,installed easily (without the usual re-engineering),instructions fairly clear & look good.Shifts much better & brakes better(rear).Can also be mounted higher (1 1/2";) for more ground clearance.
However, I'm used to being stretched out like Peter Fonda, not Kenny Roberts, so it will be a few weeks trial before I decide if I'm going to keep them!!

You need to get out the drill motor and move all your controls up an inch or two. I don't like dragging my brake and shifter levers.

Do you ride your bike with more bike lean than body lean?

I do need to move things around some, but it still won't take care of the sprocket.

I don't like to ride on top of the bike unless I'm going in a straight line. In the twisties I lean off the bike to some degree. Not leaning off to the point I'm draging my knee's. One other thing when I do ride the bike hard in the twisties I wear a two peice leather riding suit no matter how hot it is.

Pardon my ignorance, but whats a "chicken stripe" ? As Spooky has captioned his tire photo.
And I'm amazed at how smooth those ground marks on the pegs and brake lever are.
My stock footpegs have ragged grinds and shaved rubber hanging off.

Chicken Stripes (or strips) are the very edges of the tires that don't touch the ground. The really cool people (I'm not in that club) have no chicken strips on their bike's tires.

The reason why the ground marks are smooth on the pegs, is the rubber is a harder compound then the stock pegs on the Blast. The brake lever is cast aluminum and its almost soft compared to billet aluminum which is hard. Thats why the toe peg for the shifter is not ground down smooth.

James, I've got a 600 mile belt sander here in my basement. Read my favorite road in my profile and see if you can find them on a map.

fyi, the brake lever sticks out too far anyway, so you were just grinding it down to the correct size

Chuck,

With the stock pegs the edge of my boots dragged. but that was no problem since my boots have toe
sliders. Never did grind the brake lever with the stock setup. One other thing in the twisties you need to ride with the ball of your feet on the pegs.

With the Banke rearsets there is a spacer that goes in between the mounting plate and the brake lever. this moves the brake lever out some. When I get around to moving everything up 1 1/2 inches that should take care my problem with the brake lever dragging.

Of course I checked out the Ducati 750 that parks next to me as well...happy to report that though he will most certainly smoke my Thumper's ass off the line like I was standing still, Mr. Ducati is apparently a little fraidy cat about the corners!
