Shifting is normal or reversed-your choice!
Shifter is about $100 or more depending on what you go with. XB-$100, Storz reverse -$100, Buell-X1/M2 $148.
Parts numbers are listed above.
Where your knee hits will depend on your size, how you sit and how you ride. Rearsets are definitely not a one size fits all. Taller is usually better, but....

I was hoping Dan could post a picture of someone on his bike. Maybe a couple different height riders even. I'm most interested in his mod, due to the OEM look. |

It would be nice if he did that.
His are almost at race height and position. The seat you use will change your position. Where you sit on that seat (do you like to ride the tank or sit way back)? Do you ride on the balls of your feet? Do you have long legs? Do you have a habit of gripping the tank when you ride? Do you like to 'hang off'? What air filter do you use?
I've tried a bunch of different bars, seats and peg set ups. A little mod can make a huge difference.
If you'd prefer rear sets over a nice air cleaner, get the rearsets first. That will give you a better idea if the a/f will get in the way.
Rear sets look cool, but if you've never used them, they are worlds apart from the stock set up and will feel much different from sitting in the garage to being actually out on the road.
The simplicity of his design is great. Besides the extra hole in the primary and the probability you'll need a new rear brake line eventually, you can switch these from stock to back again fairly simply.
Or buy a set and if you like them, keep them and send back (or sell) your stockers. If you dont like them, there wont be any shortage of takers here!
Albeit I'm at an advantage there, having 3 or 4 sets of Y-frames already!LOL! |

Will they put your feet further back than on say an M2? These are for my wife. She's 5 feet tall, but likes the look and riding position on my M2 over her Blast. |

Here's the thing. You can put the pegs anywhere on the Y-frame you want. MMelvis did this to his Y- frames (shown racing on another thread) and only moved them maybe 3 inches back. So you can have them anywhere you want. Whether you just drill the Y-frames for the pegs or get them done ala the Thumpe way.
The problem is always the shifter. You may have to use an old 'tuber' style shifter instead of the XB shifter shown, depending on where you want the pegs. Garlic Sauce also used another shifter which could work.
With this kind of mod you can "have it your way". |

I just want to throw these out there for people.
After reading some of these posts numerous times to gather info,
I decided to make my own rearsets...
Although I probably WAY-OVER Engineered them.
Here are some pics of the A*toCAD model. They are being cut with plasma. Its easier for me to borrow time on that machine.
Still have to decide on peg and brake placement.
I also ordered the XB shifter setup.
And working on pulley cover.
Trying to get the Buell logo blasted into the polish, or maybe...
If I get creative and try to blast the Thors Keepers logo in.
I will update on progress.

Way over engineered looks better. Anybody can cut blank plates and drill holes  (well, maybe its not that easy,but pretty easy none the less). |

with the shorter XB shifter lever does it make the shifter tougher to shift? i used the XB lever and made forward controls, but the shifter is just about at the point it hurts my toes shifting the gears. i feel like i will break something. i am going to a swap meet and hoping to find new linkage(rod ends) so it will shift easier. |

The XB shifter works exceptionally well, way better than stock Blast, in its intended location. Are you using stock XB linkage parts with only an extended rod? I would think that would shift the same, but....
The old style tuber linkage is better suited to forward controls.
And some pictures would be nice |

I will take this time to say hello guys. New to the Buell. I picked up a little Blast for doing some work. Probably did to much work but hey I got a buell now. I have been researching a lot. In doing this I kept running into pretty much just this thread when looking for rear sets. I'm not spending $500 for them. This thread is very informative. But I did find one thing not answered so I will answer it for the people behind me. There is a pdf. file I believe Ez.loaded of some rear sets that I believe Phoebe sent him. She mentions that it looks like he shrunk the file. Turns out he did. But if you in large it 25%. It turns out perfect. It was'nt that difficult to figure out but I thought I would save some people a little work. |
