Cool. Is this where I use the tire patch to cover the hole? So I leave everything connected to the tee and have the breather filter under the scoop? That assumes the scoop stays in tact - I have not read anything about removing anything on the left side of the air box other than the venturi lip. Any recommendation for the type of breather filter?
Thanks again. I promise soon I will get the bike back together and not have to keep asking these noob questions. Thanks for your indulgence.

Remove scoop, and mount filter there. Tire patch is a great idea. The little breather filters like they mount on valve covers would work. A lot of things work.

On the air box mods, do you see any benefit to opening up the area inside the box around the filter? Also, do you think it helped when you removed the venturi on the outside on the box? it seems like the bigger opening without anything to smooth the incoming air might be counter productive. |

Both are done with a regular K&N filter, and only the interior is opened up if you use the stack filter on the venturi.

Say I want to use a hole saw on a electric drill to drill out the airbox to the wall that the filter sits on. What size hole saw would I need to get the largest opening for the filter intake? If im not mistaking, I think if I drilled from the inside of the intake with a hole saw I the venturi would come off as well.
Im putting in a k&n filter when I complete EZ's airbox mod. So just drilling out the intake hole as large as it will go will increase air flow? Getting rid of the venturi will not hurt the intake air flow? Thanks EZ and everyboby! |

Right - however, if you go with the max mod, put a stack Outerwears.com filter on the venturi with a hose clamp, and take out the filter and all inner walls - then your breathing as good as you can get with your air box. But yes - that is the moderate air box mod as you described. Scott has ran the max mod forever, switches out filters once a year and keeps the old ones for backups - lol -

Thanks for the advice EZ. I just Bought a K&N for my blast so im thinking I want to do just the moderate stock air box upgrade. Would you happen to know what size hole saw I would need to drill out the airbox? I can always just go measure it this weekend but I thought maybe you might know.

I took it out rough before the filter retaining wall using a jigsaw, then used a dremel grinder/sander to take it to the wall smoothly, the cut off blades to take out the interior walls - keeping the filter retaining wall.
