Looking for Blast tires and can only come up with Avon 26 in the stock sizes. I don't want to hammer the shock mount in so the AM63's are out. Anyone try these tires? | ||

Well, I have to say the scooter tire thing scares me. They are only a P speed rating which is 93 MPH while the AM26 in V rated at 149. That leaves you quite a safety margin and since the mother of my children rides this bike I like that. If no one else has tried them I guess I will. | ||

LOL - let me know when you can get that Blast even near 149 - we'll get it in the LSR group - LOL- More likely to get it near 93, and the mfgr says the 63 is good for 100mph constantly - good enough for me. GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

Well call me paranoid but I can't see the sense in running a P tire when you can have a V at near the same price. I rarely go over 85 in my car but would never even think of buying P rated tires for it. She does run the Blast down the interstate at 75 to 80 for an hour and a half at a shot. While the P rating might be just enough for what the bike is capable of I think I would feel better with more than enough, and since a tire failure on 2 wheels is a very ugly thing I think we will give these AM26's a shot. | ||

Well the Big Kid and I have been at highway speeds of 85+ for hours on the Avons. The tire manufacturers build alot of safety margin into their tires. And I think the larger sizes give you tons more stability. But let us kow how you like them, and welcome to the Badweb! | ||

If you want the best stock size tire for your WIFE to ride on, get the Pirelli's. They're cheap and they are the tires we RACE on. After we're done using them on the track, I wear them out on the street. You wont get the same mileage out of the Pirelli's as you might with the Avons, but if it was my wife, the Pirellis are what I'd run. Just my opinion. | ||

We have a Pirelli on the back now and it didn't even go 2,000 miles. She's been riding the wheels off of it since me and the boys bought it for her for Christmas. I ordered the 26's yesterday and will try them out. Will report. Gearheaderiko, I've owned the '65 for 30 years now. Bought it with 14,000 miles and it has over 150,000 on it now. Rode it cross country twice. Motors been done 3 times, repainted twice, and is in progress of a complete restoration now. It's an FL too not an FLH. They only made 2500 FL's in 1965. Have a matching sidecar rig that has been on and off the bike over the years. Was my favorite rider till the FXRP came along. } | ||

Well, I guess she does ride the wheels of it! Every 2000 miles can be a little frustrating. I got about 3600 but since I've been using the raceBlast cast offs, I'm never without a spare Pirelli! AND the sidecar too?!!! You're one lucky guy. | ||

Well the AM26's are on and I have to say they feel really good. We are leaving for Michigan on Thursday to meet up with an old riding partner that lives just outside of Cross Village. From there were going up to Paradise in the U.P. and maybe over to Wisconsin. We should do close to 2,000 miles. We'll see if they have any tread left when we get back. | ||

Pay particular attention as 127 is a speed trap where it changes from freeway to rural highway the speed drops from 70mph to 55mph for about 20 miles. My cell is 517-243-6971. | ||

I tried a stock size AM26 on my rear. So far, I think the 26 is pretty good. It didn't do well in the rain when it was only about 60 miles old, but that's to be expected. The rubber is a bit softer than the AM52, so it seems to stick better sooner. More details as I put some miles on it. At the higher price, I'm hoping it lasts as long. | ||

The AM26's did very well. 2400 miles and the rear shows some wear but looks like it could do a couple more trips like that no problem. Seemed to work well on wet roads, though she is very cautious in the wet. Bike was hard to start cold and hot but will post that in the correct area. Swampy, seen the state troopers working 127 in the area mentioned, but no where else in the rest of your fine state. Had a intake coupler rip in Vanderbilt. Wrapped it with electric tape and made it to Cross Village. Had my local dealer red label one to us and had her going again. The blast ran really well except for the starting problem. My FXRP purred through the whole trip and only took a tail light bulb. Great ride, great sights and great people. | ||

Can you post a picture of the AM 26 with the 2400 miles on it? I have about 2500 on the large AM 63 and its still showing a little in the middle. I rode with the Little Kid yesterday, what a trying experience.....he was always running up on me and slamming on his brakes, ripping on the throttle(making noise for the girls) just in general acting like a jerk! I will put the new AM63 and take him for a trip up north while its still there and send him back to school! A dads dilemma! Glad you enjoyed the trip through Michigan! | ||

I have a friend that has boated over 300 walleye this year. The best thing about it is he sets up his deepfryer in his carport, spreads out a sheet of clean cardboard on his fishing boat to prepare fish on and dish them out to. All you need to add is a cold Mexican Coolaide with a twist. Fish doesn't get any better than that! Did you try any of the smoked fish while you were up there? Fudge? | ||

Here are some pictures from Ded of his Blast fitted with the Avon AM 26 with approximately 2400 miles on it. I am not sure what size it is but I am assuming it is the 120/80V/16 that is suitable for front and rear fitment. I don't know what size exactly will fit in the front position. If those have 2400 miles on them they look like they are wearing better than excellent! That looks like the next tire for the Big Kids Blast(When he gets it together) | ||

Make that 2046 miles. I put 2400 on my FXRP on the trip but the Blast sat for 2 days waiting for the intake coupler to arrive. We ran most of the interstate portion of the trip between 70 and 80 mph. It was 880 miles from my house to Cross Village, Michigan. Then she made 2 trips up to the U.P. Yes it is a 120/80V-16. The front is a 100/90V-16. The tires are very sticky hot and don't feel bad at all cold. I am very pleased with these tires. The Pirelli MT75 she had on the rear was almost bald at that mileage. | ||

So, AM 26 is decent, but it seems that in a hard turn just out of a stop at WOT, it seems to walk a little to the outside of the turn radius. The tire itself looks like there's a lot of stress wear halfway around the tire. I'll have to get pictures up. Since the 63 now has stock sizes, why go with anything else? Except, if available, AM51/52. | ||

OK, My ride report for the AM 26. I have a 110/70/16 front Avon AM63 Vyperstryke I have a 12/80/16 rear Avon AM 26 Roadrunner. I personally like the set up, the front is very steady, on the road, does not move around, feels very planted. Turn in however, is very crisp and precise. I Like it ALOT even with the mismatch tire series. I found myself in a parking lot doing figure 8's scraping pegs(boots) with out feeling like it was going to turn in too soon. Highway lane changes were made with ease, almost like you could think it and it went by itself. There are tire marks on the road leading to our town out at the corner by the highway where the Big Kid is coming in hard and skidding it through the corner like a motard bike. Now the question is: Will the 120/80/16 fit on the front? | ||

Swampy! I know this is 2 years past your post, and what I have tried has probably been attempted before, but I put an Avon 110/90/16 Roadrunner on the front and the 120/80/16 Roadrunner on the back and felt the same response you did on the big road. This is my commuter bike and she sees more highway than city, so the bigger tire is a perfect fit. You couldn't get a nats ass between tire and fender and it doesn't rub! Plus it looks "fuller" like the "48" or the fatbob. The "squarellyness" is gone. It feel more solid. | ||
