I am getting a 2000 blast (I say its a 2000 because of the steel brake line)

What problems do I need to look for and fix?

thanks

Welcome to the board Shakespear!

The 2000, had a recall on the rear drive pulley, you need to make sure that was done, any Buel dealer should be able to look it up to find out if your bike was done.

You will need to rejet the carb(LOL) check out the knowledge vault, engines, carburetion. Its not necessary, but it sure helps with starting and running.

Other than putting tires on it, changing the handle bars and the other modifications you see necessary.......Nothing! Just ride the heck out of it!

If the bike has 5000+ miles on it just check the front engine isolator and engine mounting bolts in the head, but the 2000 didn't have as much problem with those breaking because of the added front engine link that the later models didn't get. You may experience a carb boot failure which will result in a very lean condition causing hard starting/no starting/engine failure, but that is far and few between if installed properly.

Other than that its a great bike!

Trade out the brake line for rubber or get the fork brace, otherwise wet riding could get a bit iffy with ends wanting to switch. - lol - the rest said is correct.

The "ORIGINAL FRONT BRAKE LINE" is better(2000 Model year) !!!

GET A FRONT FORK BRACE !!!

Dealer can run your VIN for FACTORY UP-DATES !!!
