i'm a little confussed so i hope someone can help me out. when i looked at the specs for an '07 Blast online it says it uses a 40mm keihin carb and has a fuel capacity of 2.80 gal gas tank with 0.55 gal reserve. in the pics of the '07 Blast it clearly shows a fuel petcock on the bike. i was at HD of Danbury (CT) two weeks ago and i am 99% sure they told me the '07's were fuel injected and i also looked to find the fuel petcock and was told because the bike was fuel injected there was no petcock, hence no res position. on the Buell website it also shows a MSRP of $4695.00 but HD of Danbury told me the MSRP was $5290.00 for an '07. did i get a glimpse of an '08 or is the info on the Buell website wrong?

The 07 is carbed, just like all the other years. Perhaps you did see an 08, but you shouldn't have!

I'm thinking that whatever you saw wasn't a Blast.

it was definatly a blast, even said so on the wind screen or fly screen or what ever it is called. i sat on it, started it and was pretty much all over it. i am going to call HD of Danbury tomorrow and talk to the salesman and see whats up.

Xgecko, you could be right but, the blast i looked at was not on the showroom floor. they did not have one in the showroom at all so the salesman took me out back to look at a white '07 that was just put together and it had approx. 4 miles on it. he could have been mistaken about the FI but as i said it did not have a fuel petcock on it. i will call there tomorrow and speak to the salesman (J.C.) and see if i can get to the bottom of this. since i am off tomorrow i may just have to take a ride over there and this time i'll bring my camera in case the bike does have FI.

NYTrashman,
The fuel petcock is on the left hand side of the tank and is a little hard to see sometimes. But a fuelie Blast! Whoa! It would be a pain to modify the fuel delivery.
And yes, pictures please!

As far as pricing goes, check with our sponsers for pricing if you have to have a new one, If you don't look for a used one, this is the time to buy as "Our" season is coming to a close (But not my kids, as they will be riding to school and work till frostbite sets in)

Ny - Don't call. If thats really an FI Blast, you weren't supposed to see that bike. And I can't imagine why the dealer even has it. So don't give them a chance to straighten things out. Just go back and ask to see it again.

It should be easy to tell if it's carbed. On the right side of the bike, near your knee, there will be a plastic airbox, about the size of a cantelopue. Ahead of that is the carb. I think it even has harley-davidson stamped on it somewhere. It's metalic.

sorry if i had gotten anyones hopes up for a FI blast. i just got off the phone with HD of Danbury and the salesman told me the bike he showed me was "as close to fuel injection" as you could get. it has an auto idle, with means there is no choke on the bike. it took a little doing but i did get him to say that the bike did in fact did have a carb on it. sorry for any confussion i may have caused, i should have known i did not see a pre '08 model but instead misunderstood the salesman. my fault folks, sorry.

George

You didn't misunderstand the dealer. MSRP on the website is correct. The Dealer lied to you and tried to rip you off. : )

Don't worry about it, fuel injection is overrated on a bike!

If you stick around here for long, you will very soon know more about these bikes then "Most" salesmen.

I would love to take lessons from Daves

I was thinking about it, probably the reason the rear cylinder is missing on the Blast is because it doesn't have to carry around all the extra weight of the fuel pump, and computer......LOL
