You could also be lean - replace Das Boot.

What EZ said! Also, you have to get a site window so the oil doesn't spray out on your timing light. Either that or have rags ready to wipe up the oil. There are two dots. They should be in the middle of the window for dynamic timing. If your Blast is stock, the static timing method will almost always get it right where it needs to be. In that case, there's a single notch.

Anybody who thinks I might have this backward (again!) chime in.

I agree, the static timing method usually gets the timing very close to spot on. The LED is supposed to just go off when the TDC mark, Line(Not the Timing mark, two dots)is in the center of the window

The "Glow" Is supposed to be there, headers will glow different colors when running.

And Welcome to the Thumper Forum Mad Chicken!

Thank you all! I knew I could count on you! I checked the boot this morning and saw no visible cracks or damage, and its still soft and rubbery. Think I'll order a new one anyway : )
Also- where on the carb is the adjustment screw? I didnt install the jet kit so who knows if its dialed right. (only has 3k on her, 2k of them I put on it)
So Swampy you say the orange glow is normal? Anytime I've ever broke in a new engine and saw that it ment bad things- this is on cars however so I could be way off

Thanks again!!

Your jetting could be lean also - with your setup - 48 primary and 175 or 180 main are the jets to use, shim the needle .05 - 2 #6 brass machined washers should put you real close -
