Hey guys, can someone chime in and tell me what bars are better on the Blast? I've read about the superbike bars, and how they sometimes hit the tank, so my question is do I want the superbike bars or maybe the drag bars? I'm about 5ft 10 and plan to get some rearsets before too long as well

Here's the link to the bars I'm questioning:

thanks!

The Superbike bars fit great, are inexpensive, and come in a choice of Black or Chrome from Chaparral- I run a black set on my red bike - see above link - note: Buell Traction grips are the comfeyest so far - I've tried about 8 different sets of grips now, yet still the old tractions on the Black bike are comfeyest.

Well to get the drag bars to clear the tank they are turned up about 45 degrees and the bar ends end up where the superbike bars ends are.

Try the chapparell superbike bars. They're cheap and give you a good place to start from.

I went with the superbike bars, and even though I cant lock the steering lock, I luv them.

I'm not sure why most can lock their handlebars with the superbike bars, but a few cant?
I do know if they are turned too far back they hit the tank, but in a comfortable position, the steering will lock.

I am short with short arms, and for a comfortable position they need to be to far back to lock. I can rotate them forward to lock the steering, but then they are not comfortable to me.

Mountain bike handle bars definatly beat the chrome stock crap. They are not perfect but they do work. Eventually I plan on finding a nice pair of clip-ons, but for now( read 'I'm CHEAP') they work.

What about the chaparral Datona's has anyone tried them? I'm also kinda short at 5'11" and from front of my shoulder to the tip of my finger is 25". So without a rearset (yet) which handlebar would be a more comfortable position for me the superbike or datona's? Thanks for any opinions : )

@Jugallo94 do you mind if I ask how tall are you and how long your arms are? B/c if I can't lock my bars I really don't want the superbike bars since I don't have a good bike lock yet.

PS: Does anyone have or has posted good clear pictures of the superbike or datona bars mounted?

I am 5'4 and I think my arms are only 24"". I have no problem with the superbike bars. You can postion them to allow the bike to lock, it just wasnt comfortable to me to have them in that position.

That was what I was worried about if I could lock the bars and still be comfortable which is why I needed someone else around my specs that had tried them. I think the difference in our height should be enough to make them comfortable and lock. Plus I'm comfortable with or more use to the sportbike stance with more weight on my wrists then the traditional HD riding position of the blast atm. But till I have the $$$ for a rearset the bars will have to tide me over. Thanks for the quick info it really helps.

I'm 5'10" and think the superbike bars are the ones the bike should have come with. I am using the stock foot pegs, meaning I don't have rearsets. The Big Kid is 6'3" and dwarfs the Sportster but he fits on the Blast also.

Thanks guys that exactly what I needed to know. You've sold me on the superbike bars. I think they will fit my riding style much better. Does anyone have anything bad to say about the traction grips because from what I've read and seen they are what I'm looking for in a grip.

Anybody know where to get a deal on them? Or maybe one of the site sponsors sells them?

They are a Dealership item, so I would try one of our sponsor dealerships for BADWEB 10% off.

My impression of handle bars is that they are just bent steel tubes. is there any reason one could not get the $20 superbikes from jc whitney? would they be inferior?

Cost the same as the Chaparral superbike bars, probably a buck more - their fine though, same mfgr.

I have a quick question about locking maybe you guys can help. I tired the Superbike bars and was able to lock them (barely) but they weren't as comfortable as I thought they'd be. So I also picked up a clubman of eBay and they barely don't lock, but I like them much more. Looking at the locking mechanism they need maybe a millimeter or two more. Couldn't I just shave off a bit of the lip that the locking pin from the ignition rest against? if its that easy why haven't I seen any one suggest it or do it?

Thanks
-ZeroEffekt
