Hi,
Today i had to turn the gasoline switch to reserve after using 1.1 Gallon of gas only. The last time i had to switch after using 1.5 Gallons only. In both occasions this happened after i started the already hot engine and rode for ~ 1 mile. My fiance was on the back seat both times.

Have you ever experience such weird behavior? I still get between 60-70 miles/gallon out of the engine riding the bike mostly with one passenger in addition to myself. I have not tried to see what happens if i turn the switch back to normal supply - so i am not sure if this effect is something temporary or if it would occur all the time.

Besides, i changed my spark plug this morning, since i first thought it might be due to some dirt between the electrodes. The new spark plug works well but didn't prevent the issue.

many thanks for sharing your thoughts,
falk

Check you tank to see if it is venting properly. Remove the vent line from the tank and blow through to make ure it is clear, most likely it has a kink or is pinched under the tank cover. It couls also be a dip in the line, and some overfilled gas. They will act like a trap and not allow you gas tank to vent properly (similar to the trap underneath a sink). You might want to crack your gas cap when thi happen and se if the bike fire up. if that's the case than that's your problem.

In your profile, it says you live in Co. On the off chance that you have a Ca bike, some demons may lurk in your charcoal cannister / evap system. Most just disconnect the evap can...

The venting seems working properly - just checked by blowing air through hose and also the inlet on the tank itself. When i crack the gas cap it even worsens the problem at that moment.

If i had a CA bike, i should be able to see the charcoal cannister near the left rear passenger's foot rest - right? i don't have anything there, so i don't think it is a CA bike.

Next time i experience the trouble with the tank i will remove the breather hose and see what happens.

thanks for your helpful thoughts!falk

Sounds fishy, I wonder if you have a sticking Roll-Over valve. I'd also pull the fuel valve and make sure that the screen is clean.

Maybe someone filled you tank full of marbles! That would dramatically reduce fuel capacity! I head of this happening to a buddy of mine!
