Hey guys. Im kinda new to the site, i registered a while back but was inactive, anywho, i just finished my first small modification on my bike. I took the liscence plate holder and chopped it up, because it s huge, bulky and UGLY. anywho, heres some pictures:

So that is my current work.. let me know what you guys think!
I have my new parts coming in the mail, My bars, and exhaust!. Anywho, does anyone know the size of the carb, where the air filter connects, i want to buy a air filter for it but dont know the size. thnx!

hah, yeah, i might remove the plastic thing all together, buy a different more umm --lasting-- tail light, and put my liscence plate on a hinge, that way when im rolling down the road, theres not as much blockage and such, it is legal to do so, just as long as a light is shining on it at all driving times. im looking for like, a COMPLETE replacement, to get rid of that *Huge* airbox on the blast, should i use the one buell sells?

If you buy the pro series air cleaner make a support for your carb. Otherwise you will be replacing intake boots.

Use the pro intake - ditch their pod and use either one of those ultra light dirttrack foam units or a stack filter such as I use - the honk is nice and I use only springs for support. Replace intake boot with the oil - lol

Yeah, i remember hearing about that(about the intake boots) .. thanks for the pointer, i most likely would have forgotten.
anyone know what the top speed and acceleration is like after the pro airfilter and exhuast is installed?

On mine I used the V&H exhaust, with the pro series, and I get 95mph now. But when I rejetted the carb and put the exhaust on it took the dead spot out of the midrange for me.

you mean that ignition system that you can buy from buell? what will that do. Sorry, im kinda new to all this, im just a youngin. I know all the basics and stuff, i know what like most engine parts are etc, im just getting into adulthood. lol. thanx for help guys

Yes the Screaming Eagle ignition, would allow for a higher top end, however, I wouldn't invest in it unless you did headwork/parts replacement to make it worth your wild - stock with it going to 6800rpms you could probably play with touching the ton, but the payoff happens at higher rpms and you need different guides, seals, and springs for that, and if you go there you might as well do the cam thing and larger valves, perhaps a higher compression piston - lol - so the dark side wispers - lol -

EZ,

Sorry for not posting for so long. My life has been somewhat busy of late like the past fifteen months. In answer to your question about the cams I'm running XB cams for the street and they work fairly well with my set up, but it is somewhat unique as many of my mods are one offs and where thought up specifically for Bonneville. So I'm not real sure how they might work for anyone else.

As for why I'm not posting as I have in the past, well lets see since 9-11 I've been appointed to work on my hospital's disaster (specially haxmat or wmd related) preparedness. This entailed writing a training program from scratch developing a decontamination team which has finally got off the ground and has had its first test which got many good marks from the Dep. of Homeland Defense on its first large scale drill.

On top of this I've had to run my own department at our hospital, I've become a grandfather (BTW this sucks, I didn't think I was quite that old), but I love the little duffer and plan to plan to spoil the crap out of him. I also was asked to be the high school pole vault coach, which was more of a challenge then I first thought.

This all occuring after my first two records at Bonneville. My life is starting to return to a more normal state so I hope to return to working on the RETURN TO BONNEVILLE effort and post more regularly. Sorry again for the loooong absence.

Good to see you again, Ray! Don't worry about the long absence, just keep coming and posting when you can. Congratulations on the new developments. You're going to make all your grandson's friends jealous when he gets older. I mean, just imagine the bragging he can do, "My grandpa does Land Speed Racing at Bonneville on a motorcycle." lol... You'll be the coolest grandfather on the block. Also, I second EZ, we're long overdue for a pic of your bike here.

I had spiderman fab me up a bracket that supports the carb. I will post pics as soon as I can get a camera. It looks as though it is supposed to be there from the factory. He did a great job, contact him if you need a bracket made up.

Hey EZ,

I was checking out the pictures of your bikes on your geocities website and I noticed something attached to the back left (shifter side) of the black bike. It looks like a silver/stainless steel canister bolted directly under the fender. I noticed that it is attached to the black bike, but not the spiffy red bike.

What pray tell is it and what does it do? It just piqued my curiosity and I had to ask. I have tried to upload a picture to more readily identify what I am inquiring about.

Also, where did you get the pegs for the red bike (merchant and any identification information would also be appreciated)?

Well I'm not EZ but the cylinder is most likely related to his Works Performance rear shock. I'm also pretty sure that this is where he got his footpegs. I've been looking at them for a while but can't justify the cost at the moment when I really want/need engine mods

The pegs are just tubular dirt bike units 0 read not expensive - got them at the local store - easy bolt on replacement, and the cylinder is as Tony said the resovour for the Works shock.
