Hey Ez, I am thinking about going with the third eye mirrors. I still have my stock hand grips on the bike. What do I have to do to install the mirrors?

So this is my new 2005 Blast, just purchased on April 7th. It's been back to the dealer twice... the first time to clean out the carb/jets, the second time the voltage regulator was sucking the life out of the battery while it was parked, these are minor things). I still love this bike and wish it would behave! I've got 2 years of riding experience, this is my 2nd bike. This new Buell is temperamental at take off from 1st gear. It likes to cut out on me, alot! Has a sputter and uneven idle and dies when I try to pull away from a stoplight. On the road it rides awesome. Does anyone have any answers for me? I will be taking it to the dealer to check it out (for the 3rd problem)!! There is no other bike for me!! I love this bike so much (at least for the moment), can anyone relate to this problem or know what is going on?

Could be the auto-choke/enrichener. It doesn't sound like a typical problem, especially on a brand new unit. Since it is new, I wouldn't worry about and rack my brain too hard trying to guess - Let the dealer figure it out for you.

Nice color

I say the only solution would be to install the 44Magnum kit, cures all Blast problems, except for the neutral to first gear clunk...of course, with the 44Mag, ya can't hear the clunk as much...so it fixes that too :P

(no, I do not have the 44Mag, but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night....)

Welcome to the club Cindy!

Are you letting it warm up before taking off.
It needs a good 30 seconds, or more....

EZ might be right about that intake boot. Check for cracks and tighten it up. If there is a problem with it, it means shop didn't assemble it correctly after they cleaned out your carb and jets.

I'm definitely warming it up... and the bike does this even after I've been riding a while. I will take the bike to the dealer and mention all these suggestions, thanks so much!!!! When I get it fixed, I'll put a post up on what they did.

30 seconds to a minute (or however long it takes to pull the bike out of the garage and close the door) is sufficient warm up. Needing longer than that means a problem or its colder than 40 degrees!

Thanks, I think the color is called Battle Blue? Wish the weather would stay nice around here, it's been in the 50's and low 60's, a bit chilly for my tastes. And I know y'all call yourselves the Bad-Weather bikers, but I like those warm breezes better...

well I finally took pictures of the blast after the conversion (appearance & performance)

I will first post pics of the stock blast (what it looked like when I bought it last year) - keep in mind that these first few stock shots where only taken around 3 weeks ago
blaststock1
another stock pic, side shot
blaststock2
..can you guess where this is going??
blaststock3

some shots after the transformation...
newblast1
..I was debating whether or not to leave the tank cover bare black, but I think my custom decal turned out really good
newblast2
this next one kinda shows the handlebar & mirror
newblast3
another shot of the other side showing the decal a little better
newblast4
one showing the CF fender as well as my crappy truck
newblast5
last one was taken when it was a little overcast, so the decal almost looks chrome
newblast6
sorry if this seems like a lot, but I think it looks beautiful now. eBay is my new best friend!
PS, don't let anyone tell you you can't repair deep scratches/scuffs and marks!

I ask people, is it normal to be in love with a machine? I mean, I LOVE my Blast, I just like to look at the bike - - It's just so cool looking. No, it's not the fastest, most expensive motorcycle you can get, but I love my bike! My husband thinks I'm nuts. I'm so glad I found this website.

OK! I'm not suppose to be up this late! Goodnight!

I don't think I mentioned the bar end mirror earlier, I looked long and hard before I found a mirror I actually liked (turned out they had it at a local bicycle shop) its called a 'cyclop' mirror made by 'Zefal'. The only downside to this mirror is that it is a asymmetrical design (hence the Cyclop name) - meaning it can only be used on one side (I had wanted to have two mirrors but this still works great). It is also fully adjustable, it rotates and swings in and out (great if you hit something in traffic.. lol) some more pics(ignore me!):
blastmirror1
blastmirror2

here is a rundown of all the stuff I found and bought for the conversion:

Low Profile seat=eBay, hardly used, 1/2 price
tank cover, flyscreen & tailsection=eBay, cheap - they were scuffed, so I repaired them, great deal!
Carbon Fiber front fender=eBay, I believe the company is called ds composites (~40US)
Renthal H 971 handlebar=eBay, takeoff from a brand new Honda CRF - 1/2 price of new Renthals
Mirror=bought new from local bicycle shop - Zefal Cyclop
Custom Decals (my own design)=paid $20 to be printed & applied @ a local shop
Pro Series Exhaust & intake= bought new from Lonestar HD in the peg (these were the only really expensive pieces)

the only other mods I can think of is maybe a Corbin seat and dual headlights with a lightning flyscreen (ala Blaster_S, if he doesn't mind, lol!)

thanks for the compliments
Mmelvis, I really like the sound of the pro series, it fits right in my tolerance level and I couldn't imagine a louder system (no offence to those of you with a more hi-po system)

I just realized my blast could be a posterchild for eBay! LOL

I have 2 of those Blackburn mirrors also. Check the archive from last month, I posted pictures.

Only thing I don't like is they stick out a lot, and they vibrate too much. The end cap of one of them vibrated off and I lost it... Should have used a little lock tite I guess.
