I don't know what I ever did to Eric to tick him off but a couple things about this ride are driving me nuts. Rearsets are a deffinate improvement, not sure about the clip-ons... What kind of Motorcycle doesn't have a Tach?! That's getting changed this weekend. But the Rev Limiter. I don't know what to do to get rid of it. Anyone here have any ideas? Do the Blast that are raced have 'em disabled?

Lots of bikes don't have Tachs, the M2 for example didn't have one in the beginning, a lot of Harleys, and a ton of cruisers gon't have tachs. With the rev-limiter you really don't need one.

The only easy way to get around the rev-limiter is to change out the ignition module. The Buell pro-series module ($250) is a bolt in jobbie with adjustable rev-limit, but you should be able to install just about any HD ignition system with some tweaks. Jut a warning, Buell sez that the stock valvetrain should not be pushed beyond 6500 rpm.

In other words, the rev limiter is set at what the stock valvetrain can handle.6500rpm.

Did you check out the thread on Blast tachometers?
There are very few options.

GH- Tell me about it. I'm doing what most before me have and installing a Westach. a wee bit pricey too!

Jp- Thanks that's the kind of info I was looking for. By tweaks I am guessing something to do with halveing the ignition fires?! I wish I was more electrically inclined, might be able to save myself mo' money mo' often! As far as suggestions go: Nobody goes past redline on a regular basis for a sustained duration, if ever, but I'll be damned if someone is going to tell me I can't! This is America Damnit!!! I want the ability to squeeze every last pony out of her that I can should the need arise!

These motors don't take kindly to over-revving!

If you have totally built the valve train - heavy springs, hydrosolids with good pushrods... then maybe you can risk spinning it up faster but the blast racebikes without the rev limit end up being destroyed about every other race day.

You can install the Screaming Eagle Ignition nose module. It is made for Sporsters and the Buell Blast and available at any H-D dealers. Turn it up at your own risk unless you have a Stage 3 Head. The short stroke motor can run all day between 7 and 8K if you have done the valve work. The module will also let you develop custom spark curves beyond the ten they have already loaded. BTW to use custom curves you need to buy the Crane software and cable, H-D S/E does not sell one. ... Terry
