certified newbe.... #1, what's the proper jacking procedure with these bikes? I see the arrows on the muffler but can't find any "do this - don't do that" info anywhere #2, ECM maps, flashes, etc. lots of talk about it, gonna bet there are better maps than the delivered factory data that's on the bike now. I don't need to mess with it yet, figure better to wait 'till she's broken in. what do you guys suggest? #3, I've had a number of experiences when it stumbles on a throttle "blib" when pulling out from a stop sign/light. kinda feels sometimes like it's not getting or dealing with correct sensor info or something. it's been running and warmed up when this happens. possible relation to #2 above.... #4, who's the "Buell guy" is service and is he on here? cheers, kmd |

May I field this one for you, Tripp? 1. Jack it up under that arrow. Don't let it fall over. Easy. 2. You'll really only need to change your map after exhaust or intake mods. In stock form, you're running lean (thank you EPA) and you could datalog the bejeezus outta the bike to tune it to the gnat's ass, but if you "don't need to mess with it" then don't. 3. TPS reset. You can pay a dealer to do it, or get yourself an ECMSpy cable and DIY. Instructions are in the manual and about 4,000 iterations of same can be found on this website. 4. Tripp? Any of your mechanics know their ass from a Buell? Most all of NEBO do their own work. We is skeered of stealerships... 5. Answer to the question you didn't ask: Wrong forum for the question. Knowledge Vault, XBoard, or NEBO woulda been better. |

Actually his 09 can have the TPS reset done by doing a fancy combo with the throttle, no ECMspy required. Procedure is on Badweb in 500 places |

all good info, thanks folks! the only thing i can add is: #1 service manual says use scissor jack at arrows..... lol that's about it there! #2 before they let bikes go out they check to see if there are any current recalls, flashes etc., however in the future if you would like performance work done, we've had great success with the direct link products for buell! 08+ bikes require different software to manipulate the ecm, direct link has it all figured out and our dyno guy chris is an expert! #3 i've ridden 08 and 09 xb's and do not recall any problems, if you get a chance bring her on in and we'll have one of the techs check it out, i've never seen them scratch their heads and give up on any bike, they always succeed in their endeavors! #4 there are several buell guys in the service department two of them are buell factory trained and chris (dyno guy) is one of the smartest techs i've ever met, we do a lot of trade-in business any brand that's out there we've worked on, RG the service manager has 25+ years multibrand experience, our service department can fix anything! erik and i are the only ones that post on badweb in, but if you have techy questions i can't handle come by or call and ask for chris in service, i have yet to stump him with a tech question! |
