I keep seeing this really cool green S2 sitting in a garage in Colorado. Been told it is really fast!! Problem is it is so lonely as it hasn't been ridden in years. Wonder if the owner is ever going to do anything with it? Maybe I should offer to buy it from him. Any idea what i should offer the guy?? I promise I will ride the snot out of it and treat it like a red headed step-child!! if it breaks I will fix it. (Message edited by dannyd on June 10, 2011) |

I wouldn't go over $2,000 on any S2 thats just been sitting. Unless of course if it has the billet top triple clamp. then it becomes a prize collectible. Ask Court for the price difference, I think he would know?? |

Hahahaha . . . not for sale. I've already scoffed at $25,000 . . it's a keeper. . . and is going nowhere for a while. First Buell to set tire in most the states . . . And . . thanks for the reminder. . . entirely my fault . . I had the info from Aaron several months ago and have been swamped. I sent him a note today about getting the bike and all the cases of prototype S2 stuff out of the barn. I'm kinda looking forward to riding an S2 again !

Court, I have a truck and an enclosed trailer that could be used to move it most of the way towards New York if that would help. Paul |

Hahaha . . . likely so. Aaron had written months ago that he had about 6 months to get stuff moved. I never got in gear and got to work on it. I wrote him today and we'll get it taken care of. Not sure where the bike is but he likely knows and I'll get somebody there in the next week or so to collect it and get it shipped to NYC. I'll have to check on shipping companies. . I know some folks here have had good luck. Thanks for the reminder. |

Paul: Thanks for the offer. Erik's son and I were kinda toying with him riding last summer but he ended up getting a great job in Yellowstone and it didn't work out. I think the easiest thing to do is to just ship the thing . . .although I'd love to ride it. I'm going to see if I can con Frank into going through all the "wear items" before it heads out and get it up to snuff. I suspect it's in superior shape mechanically and likely just showing the effects of sitting. It'd be fun to ride here for a bit and then it'll go off to the Buell Museum with the narrative of the story behind the bike. JB2 has the original bodywork and was restoring it to original LOA glory. . . . so the green bodywork will likely get replaced. Funny story . . as usual. One of the boxes with the bike was my "desk" at the Buell plant for a while. Jennifer, Joni and I ended up officed in the old shipping building where all the old RS stuff was stored. I was using a cardboard box for a desk. When we moved the box got tossed in my truck. One day, mostly out of curiosity, I opened the box and found a brand spanking new ice white pearl fairing . . . If the S2 is still making the power it was when Aaron finished it . . . it ought to be a screamin' hoot! Fun times. |

Short term Dan will be giving the bike a once over and shipping it to NYC. Mid-term . . it'll likely be cruising the Hudson Valley soon. How much fun can you have with 111RWHP playing in the hills? Long term . . per my will . . it'll end up buried with me.

So I gather this was the test mule? You rode. How did it end up with Aaron? |

Court, I am sure most of your friends will show up at your funeral just to make sure your wishes are fulfilled, regarding your priceless, one of a kind Buell treasures. If you can't trust your friends, why have any??? |

Hahahaha....... If my friends showed up it'd just be a matter of deciding which one of them rode off with the bike. I'd be laying there and the S2 would be roaring off ...... Nothing so special about the bike other than pure sentimental value ...... Many of the places the bike has visited in 44 states had never seen a Buell before. I'm eager to get it here and take if for a spin. Aaron used it as an opportunity to shoe case what COULD be done .... It's really a statement about his meticulous attention to detail. If you get in the NYC area we'll have to take it for a ride ...... That'd be a new twist.... You riding some elses bike! Needless to say ....you're welcome anytime.. We are also working on the best way to ship the cases of "stuff". At the time, there was a lot of experimentation and prototype stuff being done. When we were done with much of it I just boxed it up rather than toss it.. Funny the other day.......Dan at nhrs was great and we were starting to figure things out and trying to decide if the bike needed anything. I visited with Aaron and his words were " the bike needs nothing but to be ridden and enjoyed.". Doable deal there. It really is a fascinating piece of Buell history. Bybthe way ... Someone asked how it got to Aaron's.... That was handled by the famed crew of Don & Charley ...... Two Buell legends in their own right and a story unto themselves. Charley has since passed away and it was sad news to both Vickie and I who are " dog people". Charley was amazing! What memories ....... Must start writing again. |
