You want to ride a great road in Colorado? Take Route 82 from Twin Lakes to Aspen, over Independence Pass.

I'll throw in Hwy 65 just east of Grand Junction that goes over the Grand Mesa. It runs between I70 & Delta.

Thanks for the responses guys, I do appreciate it.

... coming from OH I'm stopping in at NRHS to get new tread on tues/wed. So many great roads to choose, I'm looking at 285 to 50 to 550, then on to Utah, Vegas, Pacific Coast Hey, I've got a sister near Petaluma Ca where I'll take an extended stay, before meandering back. I'll try to hit some Northern routes then.

I see most passes are over 10,000 ft there, I'm guessing I should dress warm.

... should I make it over to Miller for the FIM races on Sun.. ??. ....

Hey Jim, If you have time, along your route I have three recommendations.
(1) Take 285 a little farther south to Saguache, then head west on 114. The climb up North Cochetopa Pass and the remaining 30 miles back to 50 are incredible.
(2) On 50, just west of Sapinero, take 92 west towards Delta. I refer to the section from the damn on up to Hermits Rest as our 20 mile "Tail of the Dragon". LOTS of corners with a lot of up an down, a real roller coaster ride. + not much traffic and few LEOs. A stop at HR is a must as well, great view.
(3) Probably a bit out of your way, but 141 between 50 and Naturita is worth a separate trip just to ride. South of Gateway are 100+mph sweepers that never seem to end. Between Gateway and 50 is very nice as well. Great resort in Gateway. The place is built and owned by the owner/founder of the Discovery channel. His collection is behind the hotel in his auto museum, it's worth a look.
Three of us are headed to Miller for the races, Maybe we'll see you there.
Bob

Oh, an electric vest is a good investment.
