Your response is precisely why I have ceased responding to requests for help from Buell owners.

I have read several posts from people bad mouthing you and or questioning your intentions. I know that has to be a real drag. But for what it's worth the majority of us Buell guys really appreciate the info, advice and help that you have given. While I've never needed your help, and hope I never will, it's always been nice to know if I really got stuck I could "shoot Court a pm" and he might be able to help. So I hope 1 or 2 canoes don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Trust me, the canoes are doing us in. Even I have stopped chiming in on many threads just because apparently the truth pisses people off. I recently saw a thread with someone getting angry at a Buell engineer and telling the engineer that it isn't possible for a new part to be better and cheaper than the old parts it replaces. I wish we could just cull the stupid people and make it so they can't post, but it would get awfully quiet here : )

Although if someone PM's me and asks for my input on something, I do honor their requests.

BanHamma!

In all seriousness, my heart-felt apologies if I have ever offended. I too have a deep appreciation for you Court- you have made my Buell experience a better one.

Froggy, I just like your hammer ; ) j/k, thanks to you as well : )

I've been away (from the site) for a while (due to wild speculation and conjecture from way too many people with no idea of the facts) so I don't know the motivation for the thread but I get the picture.

Anyway, Court has been a great Buell advocate and has personally helped me and my wife out of quite a pickle. And that after having met us once a few hours prior. He is a stand up guy (damn few left in this World!). Anyone bashing him is bashing me....and I don't like that!

Rock on Court!

Would like to add that after last October's announcement, the single biggest reason I went ahead with my Uly purchase was BadWeb.

Reading the likes of Court, Froggy, Glitch, and many many others, and the obvious passion all of you show convinced me that there would be support and help long after H-D's mandatory support period was done. So thank you all very much for that.

That being said, burnout sucks, so if you need to take a break, take it. Make it a clean break and don't even log in for a while. We'll be here waiting to mob you when you come back refreshed.

And more than anything else, to quote Froggy, "... ride till your motor seizes."

I just thought I'd state my appreciation to BadWeb and Court, Froggy, and all the other truly helpful posters here. My Ducati and Victory riding brothers and sisters are quite passionate, but I think Buell owners have them beat. Buell was my introduction to street riding in the '90s after years as a MX rider, and I'm so glad I started that way. BadWeb is IMO the best owner board there is, period. Thanks to all that made it happen.

I am a new BadWebber and new Buell rider. I have been riding for a long time and have always wanted a Buell. If it weren't for the rebates I probably still wouldn't have one. Apparently the Buell owner demographic shifted lately partly due to the rebates. This has brought new people to the board, and some of them brought their ignorance, other brought their passion for riding great bikes. The upside of this is an opportunity to spread the Buell gospel, the downside is, well, dealing with stupid comments from Cephalopoda Teuthida.

Froggy, feel free to swing the banhammer more often. If I had a choice Id take Courts comments over 20 or 30 of the trash posters that the firesale brought in.

Court, you are appreciated whether to are aware of it or not.

Hey thanks . . . my "retirement" is a bit of a mixed bag. Some of the current issues, say stators and wheel bearings, should be relatively simple fixes.

The Elves at Buell were well on their way and went to great pains, putting in lots of personal overtime, to make certain the body of knowledge for all their research and engineering was properly documented, summarized and everything was converted to Harley-Davidson format. They put in a LOT of work.

Unfortunately it was prepared with more enthusiasm than which it was received and I think the ball has been dropped.

Harley so offended some of the suppliers of critical parts that I wouldn't be surprised if some of them had told HD to pound salt and simply destroyed the tooling.

There are, however, some great times ahead for Buells and Buell owners. The recent 2010 Homecoming speaks volumes as to the the state of the current level of enthusiasm among owners.

Personally, I look for some solutions to come from "non-traditional" directions. I. . . just as a personal example. . . would much rather have a "super stator" designed and built by an enthusiastic and qualified owner, than going through several months of the runaround from Harley-Davidson.

What has effectively driven me to a state of somewhat diminished passion is a combination of lack of support from HD and the "new" voice of some of the current crop of Buell owners.

There was a time we could hold a conversation. Those times seem to have passed and been replaced by insults and argument when someone doesn't agree.

For that reason I come to Badweb much less. I toy around, stir up some political discussions, read some others but am trying, with varying success to keep my opinions and "how I'd handle it" to myself.

I enjoy Buell owners more than ever and the recent Homecoming 2010 proved just what a spectacular group of folks Buell attracts.

I confess that recent events lead me to believe I'm just on Buellcation for a bit . . I suspect in the not too distant future I'll be back in the thick of things.

I'm continuing to do a lot for Buell owners but in a far less publicly visible fashion.

Thanks for the kind words and for placing your trust and confidence in Buell.

Court

I certainly understand that... I think everyone’s enthusiasm drops from time to time however, I know when mine does I usually get a phone call or email from a "real" Buell Enthusiast and it sparks my flame.

I am thoroughly disgusted with some things that are on the BadWeb. One day Blake is going to let the Custodians loose and I look forward to it.

I have thought about just going back to doing searches when I have a problem to solve (like I did for years before signing on) but in reality I have made some very good friends through the badweb. In fact, if I do not post for a couple of days I usually get an email to see what is going on.... It is kind of nice. The highlight of my trip to Homecoming was meeting many people but the one I remember most was Oldog….. A kindred spirit.

I can say this with some confidence that Court is a Buell guy that I think he enjoys helping other Buell guys and gals. I think that help has limits and maybe those limits have been exceeded. There is no joy in doing something for someone and then get questioned in the manner you do it.

No matter, Lynn and I enjoy riding our Buells with great enthusiasm with or without the negative attitudes.

Frank

Easy fix,

300 dollar Plane ticket to Colorado Jul 2011
50 dollar ride from airport to a green S2
75 dollars of gas money to the UP of MI

Free - Hang out with the best Buellers around for three days.

Of course, if you want, I can pick up the S2, go over it and replace anything that needs it and even put a couple of break in miles on it for you. The only difference is the airport you fly into.

Seriously consider it.. You do not want to piss off the event organizer for next year.... He is a mean sumbitch

Court, I have been on Badweb for many years and I really appreciate your enthusiasm and help to others as well as to me over the years. When I talk about Buell to others your name always comes up because just as much as Erik and all the Elves and dedicated Buell dealer employees out there, you are part of the Buell family and when family is down they help each other. Just this week alone I have received advice more than once and another Badwebber has came through an something I needed to keep me on the road. point is I'm here for ya man, take your Buellcation and recharge.
We love ya Buell brother!

I haven't visited a lot of the Badweb threads regularly, other than the Uly section, so I haven't seen the slights. I'm sorry to hear about them. Court and Froggy are amazing supporters of us, Buell owners. Sure they support Buell but we, the bike owners, are the real beneficiaries of their vast Buell knowledge and their willingness to share it and help whenever asked. I appreciate it greatly. This site, and Court and Froggy's countless contributions, makes Buell ownership more enjoyable.

We all need to really appreciate what we have here. It is special.

it's amazing the amount of help you can get on badweb from these guys. But it does suck when you see people give them shyt the second they disagree with them. Just because they're badweb celebs doesnt mean they aint human...

It always seemed, as an outsider looking in, that what you have here is the closest thing to an old style bikeshop counter, except this counter reaches around the world. Somewhere to meet motorcyclists and shoot the breeze.
The reason I joined Badweb, being a dyed in the wool non joiner, was the collected wisdom of so many early Buellers being available and accessible in one place. As a resource, and somewhere to touch base with like minded individuals, it cannot be beaten. The amount of time and effort given freely,to people that may only have been "spoken to" on these pages, is humbling. The first person to welcome me to Badweb was Court, obviously a very busy man who took time to welcome a complete stranger who had drunk the buellade. Thankyou Court

Dude, I'm not on the intertubes 24/7 I have a job and stuff. One minute, Court's being an all around good guy, the next there's some pissing contest of which I'm not aware.

By the way, I had dinner with Mike F. in Dallas last week. He's looking good but has this unfortunate attraction to Ducs.

The "pissing contest" was over a thread in the classifieds. Someone was selling a topcase rack for a Ulysses, and Court mentioned for potential buyers to not use it without the sidecase racks. Then someone else chimed in and said:

quote:

WHY on earth would he need to give a warning to prospective buyers? Have our lawyers really infiltrated every facet of our lives? Even Badweb? It is a replacement part! Do I need to give a warning when I sell my rotor that the bike won't stop without brake pads, too?

All Court was looking to do was prevent a potential disaster. It is quite frustrating, I had similar happen to me recently on the 1125R board. Sometimes people just don't like the truth, and to quote Adam from Mythbusters, "I reject your reality and substitute my own!"
