Did I make the mistake of the century and accidentally take a photo of Henry Duga and not realize it was him? In the background:

I got to meet Henry at Daytona last October... It was at once a great, yet depressing encounter. It was just after harley dropped the bomb on Buell. I didn't really know what to say... We talked a bit about racing and I pretty much danced around the end of Buell issue... It did seem to brighten his day when I told him about the ride to the factory that was being planned. He was totally unaware of the ride until that point! |

I sort of met him at Last Ride. I felt like a moron, I was at a total loss for words. |

I met him at biketoberfest 09'. Turns out we were staying at the same hotel. Very nice guy. He was obviously very tired and worn out from the races but he took the time to talk. Even got a pic of my 1125 in front of the buell van |

Henry is the "Gold Standard" of Class Acts . . . . and has been since the day Buell opened. An amazing source of information and a very nice person. |

I took my Dad to his first motorcycle race ever (the AMA event that was in Topeka, KS last year). We met Henry at the tent and talked for some time about everything. Very approachable guy. My Dad is a certified Car Nut (American Muscle Cars), but he left that motorcycle race wanting more! He was excited to see the Buell win. |

It must be a Buell thing - but Henry truly is one of the nicest guys you'll meet. Softspoken, polite, very quiet...and as Court says, an amazing source of information. To show his "nice-ness"...I came to work one day and The Van was here, Henry was helping the race team sort a couple of things. I said hello on my way out the door at the end of the day - we passed in a hall of sorts - and we started talking a bit. My S2 was warming up outside, he peeked around the corner at it and got a little smirk. "Hold on a sec, have you got a second?" Um...of COURSE I do! He makes his way to The Van, and came back with 2 stickers and 2 patches with the new Buell logo on 'em. Before they were released. ANYwhere. I hadn't asked, I hadn't mentioned anything...he just went and did it for no apparent reason (other than just being a Nice Guy of the Nicest Sort!). I had one of the stickers on the back of my helmet before my S2 had finished warming up. I still need to find homes for the patches though. Maybe my Buell/Vanson jacket should get one... |

One more Duga prop - I was at a track day a coupla years ago, when they rolled out the demo 1125R's - Anyhow, I managed to snap off my shifter peg as I was unloading my XB. The van (semi, really) was there, so I asked if they happened to have one. I'm pretty sure Duga was the guy who helped me out - he absolutely refused to take my money (something about they were not allowed to take payment), even when I suggested they use the money for frosty beverages of their choice. I thought it was totally cool of Duga/Buell to do this for a complete stranger. That's how you develop customer loyalty!! |
