Bud, What kind of Yamaha is that? you have a good eye for parts, but only the indicators and head light are Yamaha, it has also a Duc Paso front fork, and 2 delorto carbs. it's a RR1000 Buell

Bud If I remember right, that's not just "a" RR1000, it's an RR1000 with a little bit of history isn't it? |

The rear lights were also Yamaha. We bought them from the Yamaha dealer Erik used to wrench for in PA. The taillight was from a Moto-Guzzi and we used it on all RR and RS bikes. WE bought a pallet of them and had to use them up. They looked good and worked well. |

Well i like to think all RR1000's are special noadays but yes that's the no 50 bike owned by Aaron, who was so kind to sell the bike to us. i didn't know that Dave, Thanks i thought Erik was good friends with the Mukwanago yahama dealer was the front light for the RS also a Yamaha part ? i not had the change to have a good look under the fairing off our RS (Message edited by bud on November 18, 2009) |

You're going to learn . . . . eventually . . . that there was a lot of Yamaha in that bike . . . don't miss the story about breaking the counter or the gunfight. . .or better yet the "5 speed 6 speed". That Erik Buell was a trouble maker ! |

The headlight on the RS and I thin the RR1200 was a standard automotive bucket and sealed beam. We had a local autobody shop who bought them for us by the case at a pretty good price |

The taillight was from a Moto-Guzzi and we used it on all RR and RS bikes. That Moto-Guzzi taillight in modified form was used all the way up to the 2002 S3's. After the RR, RS and RSS bikes they were used on S2's and S3's. Ironically, I first realized it was a Moto-Guzzi piece in April 2008 when I saw this on one of my rare trips to Michael's in Chapel Hill, NC.

Buell RR-1000 #50 is VERY unique. I **think** it is the ONLY motorcycle to have ever broken 4 LAND SPEED RECORDS in ONE DAY. |

that bike has broken a lot of LSR. I don't know the actual amount but certainly that first year that Aaron and Team Elves took the biek tot he salt was special. |

Thanks for the photo & info. I''ve a need for a taillight for an early model. Will stop by my Guzzi dealer. Also, while the year ya'll Elves took to the salt was a banner year for Buells in LSR, notice Buells keep coming and setting records nigh on a decade later. The vanguard, Don McCaw, set some records in 1991 & 1992 that still stand and was offered a substantial sum on the salt one year for his 1988 RR1200. Still owns it and may come back someday. |

I think you can still get that light form EFB Designs. Call Buell and ask for Tom Anglim. |

I'd be willing to bet the lights are in stock . . . I got a frantic call one night when the windscreen for #50 got cracked at the show in Indy . . . they were hoping to replace it before a certain redhead saw it . . . they were begging to know where to get one . . . I called T.A. and had 2 the next morning. |

I'm with Court. i thinke EFB bougth some more about a year ago. I got a call from one of the buyers asking if I knew what Guzzi part number it was as they needed to get more. I was able to dig out something that helped; didn't ahve an actual part number. Brankin, do you know what model and year the Guzzi in your picture is? It would be helpful to file that info away. |

Mille GT, circa late 80s to early 90s, no? From the limited research I've been able to do on the web, it appears that 1987-1991 Moto Guzzi Mille GT's had the taillight on them. But you know, everything you see on the internet is true. But Moxnix's post supports my web search. Sorry it took me so long, Dave. I'm no Guzzi expert... 1313 |
