Found this on ADV a few minutes ago: "I was told Sat. at the dealer that there were 500 units slated for the Japanese market, but they were turned down, so they are being reconfigured for the U.S. market and will be allotted to dealers when that is done. A friend put his name on a waiting list for and 1125r. The dealer said they might get 2 or 3 but he didn't know for sure. I would guess the more interest (or deposits) a dealer has, they will be given more."
Speedometer? Kilometers instead of miles per hour. Stickers or labels that could have been in japanese? Perhaps different vin type than domestic? Maybe they make them shorter?
You'll know if yours was one if when you put the key in it starts with this....
I have found it curious that there was still unknowns as to delivery. If a dealer was getting what they ordered & when. Stickers or speedo should be quick replacement. Now if there's a vin difference that requires changing frames that could take a while. Maybe they are waiting for them to get back on shore if they had already been underway?
Maybe Court can shed some light?
A side question. Have any pics of the last produced you could share? I've seen the one pic posted on the 29th but no others since. I'd think someone would want a picture of it with everyone like has been done before with other milestones.
Headlights would be different too, they'll light to the left on low beam, not right. Should be an easy swap though.
There are some pics on facebook on Jack Reinharts page of that last XB being made. I haven't seen a big group shot though. Maybe they didn't want to, it would've been a sad day .
Mr Latus at our PBR meeting said that the distribution is confused right now because there were so many dealers that stopped shipments and/or returned crated bikes back to the distribution center. Latus Buell will be getting bikes from that revised inventory count.
I guess I just have a time with the confusion. Knowing what I had, where it was and where it was going was part of my job. I took pride in being able to direct someone over the radio to exactly where the box/part was in supply.
Rejected/returned shipments shouldn't cause confusion on the supply side. Especially if they were returning them all back to one location.
So Court, if a dealer took a $1000.00 deposit on a bike for me and told me yesterday that my order is "pending' does that mean I will absolutely be getting the bike or what???? Dealer had no answers other than that and I am getting worried about bike availability. He said something similar to what Dbird29 said. Let me know. tanks
Speaking as a dealer...we have been allowed to request additional units, from a restricted list of available bikes.
All the bikes are "subject to order cancel".
None of our 11 requested units have been confirmed nor denied, but....
we physically received a 2009 1125R and a 2009 1125CR yesterday.
We are also taking deposits and holding "orders" under customer names, with the explicit disclaimer to them that the bike may or may not actually ship, and if it does not their deposit will be refunded without question.
...and Aaron? If you want an RR and a Destroyer, we have both for sale, previously run / prepped / freshened / ready to go. How about a race-prepped 1125 to complete the set?
Was in one of the local Buell/HD shops yesterday...they have more Buells on the floor now than I've ever seen there previously. I was told they just received 39 1125R/CR (I saw about 20 on the floor). Looks like you can pretty much have your choice of color as long as it's red.
