I think we scared him off after showing him that 2girls1cup video.

Good thing he didn't just eat. : )

But seriously, I haven't heard his name mentioned in ages.

He was at Last Ride, fully Buell-attired.

He's still a "good guy" for Buell as far as I can tell, and gave quite a nice talk to the troops after lunch.

But what will happen to him now that Harley has locked the doors on Buell?

Wasn't he the CEO of Buell (Erik was CTO)?

Jon was a Senior Vice President at Harley-Davidson when he came to Buell to succeed John Heavy.

Jon is a seasoned and respected executive. Like the Buell Presidents, starting with Mark Cunningham, he'll return to Harley-Davidson where he do a super job.

He's a shining beacon of character, along with about 4 others, in the HD executive suites. He'd do well with any major corporation.

He's done amazing things at Buell and gave up some big time political capital to fight many Buell battles.

I feel sorry for him as well . . . there are folks who'd like to see him hung out just for doing his best for Buell.

He's good people.

My great memory of Flick was the first time he met with Buell owners on a Friday night and dinner and he told us he'd not being seeing us the next day since one of he had a big family event . . . the guy blew off the Buell crowd to be with his family for a graduation. I liked him from that moment.

That's the way he is . . . . and I'll tell you that agree, disagree, right or wrong he has treated me nothing but wonderfully and with total respect and kindness.

Including one day when I shot my mouth off an made a commitment to "save" and Italian Tribu 6800 Buell rider who was stranded on the road in France in August when the dealerships were closed . . .

I shot my mouth off before checking with anyone . . . sent an e-mail to Flick, who was in an important meeting . . he came out, called me and within an hour a dealer in Barcelona was on the way . . .

I knew right away I'd screwed up . . I'd written the check to fast . . . but Flick busted ass and got it cashed . . . all I got was that sly smile and a "maybe you should call me FIRST next time".

The guy is good . . VERY GOOD.

hey Court, I agree with you on Jon Flickinger, he was a class act and real asset to the Buell Motorcycle Company.

I REALLY like Harley-Davisaon motorcycles, I just don't care for their leadership that is making the poor decisions such as killing the Buell Motorcycle Company.

I personally believe that in my lifetime, I have never seen our country in so much trouble as it is in now because of the decisions that CEO's are making. Closing down companies, downsizing, and moving manufacturing jobs overseas just to try and please stock holders. We need more leaders to stand up and fight for the American workers and our manufacturing base.

Court hit it on the head with his description of Jon - he's much better with words than I : )

I really like Flick. Anytime someone in a position like that, who I'm sure meets thousands of people a week, can walk up to a schmuck like me in a parking lot, shake my hand, ask how I'm doing after my accident, know my name, and know my wife's name...after meeting him ONCE a year earlier...he's a Genuine Good Man, right up there with Erik (Court's not too bad either...after all, he *does* bring coffee sometimes!).

Folks like that are too hard to find these days. That's another reason I'm so sorry to see Buell (as we know it anyway) go...it's a magnet for Good People, both employees and enthusiasts. It's an inspiring crowd, with an inspiring history.

Well, I'm not sure he is who he says he is, since W.J. Reinhart already has a username here, appropriately Reinhart.
I'm guessing that's not really "The Hammer".
Personally I never met Flickinger, I'm sure he's a great guy, but I'm more concerned with the 180 or so who are losing their jobs in a month. Yes kids, it's the 18th of November so shut-down is a month away. Merry X-mas from MoFoCo.

Hey ,"realitycheck!" Thank you for giving us the power to make you feel superior. Some Buell owners, like me, were riding motorcycles long before you were pooping yellow in your diapers. We just appreciate a decent ride and the affinity of a forum of like minded folk.

I'm pretty comfy on the sidelines, actually. And me being a know-it-all, (which comes with a license to keep talking to uncouth boors who have all the clues, all the time) you're welcome stick your head up my *** and listen, or not. You decide.

I expect to be in E. Troy next week if you want to fill me in on the real world of Buell.

Sorry about your anger, but I am not a therapist.

Kind regards,

Das Machts Nichts

"I will not post profane or vulgar language, nor will I engage in personal attacks nor in malicious derision in any form of other users of the board."

Understand that is in the rules. I was remiss in the harshness of my earlier post.

A little sleuthing comes up with this: http://fundrace.huffingtonpost.com/neighbors.php?t ype=name&lname=Reinhart

Scroll down about 2/3 and we find... Fabricator / Designer Buell Motorcycle CO.

Mr. Check, Reality, in everyday usage, means "the state of things as they actually exist." We know BMC has been shit-canned and the reasoning why doesn't quite jive with most, so speculation and conjecture is what keeps us busy around here until the whole story can be told. Care to elucidate?

Odd he blasts his quintessential supporters outside of E. Troy. Still, I understand the frustration and anger some must feel as they are helpless to save, not just jobs, but careers and a way of life.

Sideliners like myself have a decent view of the big picture.

By the by, without owners and enthusiasts, there would be no "real world of Buell."

Never knew him well enough to call him Flick, but can tell you a short story about who he is and one thing he did for us at H-D Buell of Vallejo back in 2006. I am in the Dyno Room and notice that Henry Duga is calling me on my cell. I am able go shut down and take the call, only to be asked if we could get our race team together and have Shawn Riley ride a XBRR in the AMA FX class at the Infineon round in just in ten days. I said I could let him know for sure within an hour, but the quick and short answer is Yes. Now while that was happening, Jon Flickinger was on the phone with Thom McIlhattan the owner of the dealership making him an offer he could not refuse. I bike one weekend $1.oo but we had to sell it back to BMC for the same amount. We went racing got the bike at practice on Thursday needed springs brake pads and a few other items, but Shawn qualified and made the grid. During the race with McWilliams running in the top ten before a mechanical, with us well back, but now up into the points breakdown. Shawn scored the first ever AMA points for a Buell XBRR and received a well deserved $1000.00 check from Henry and Buell Racing. Yes we had to sell it back, but it was fun while we had it.
