Neither is Harley-Davidson.

They had an INCREDIBLE opportunity to sell THOUSANDS of Buells to American Military Personnel.

The long and short of it was that marketing Buell to them might detract them from buying a Harley-Davidson.

Guess what they bought when they came home?

: )

When we were sending all the Buell stuff to Iraq and Afghanistan . . . . to support out BadWeb Buellers . . . . I had the photos of all the fellas decked out in their Buell gear. I got a number of comments about how cool it was that Buell was THE company that was really stepping up and supporting it's owners.

I asked one of the Buell guys . . . "what are the owners of other bikes getting?"

His response made me laugh . . . . "Interested in Buells".

The HD CFO's line rings like Chev blaming the HUD on the Corvette for making them loose their focus. It was a poor lie, poorly told.

It is cool to closely examine the HD financials . . . .EVERY business sales number is a NEGATIVE except one . . . take a guess what the one positive number was?

"If it did, then HD has much bigger issues to deal with."

DUH!
Like, trying to shove the same motorcycle down somebody's throat as last year's model, with new chrome and paint? And a different name?
Harley's fall will be bigger than GM's when it comes. And it WILL come. Soon.
Today's younger riders are neither stupid nor as easily brainwashed as my generation. And they're not afraid to say they don't like something. HD's stodgy old technology does not interest them whatsoever. Maybe the dipshit CFO oughta ask one of his kids, or grandkids, their opinion about the "oldfart grandpa motorcycles" coming from Milwaukee these days before passing judgement on a brilliant, vibrant young AMERICAN company.

I can tell you out of my Company(Army type) There were 3 bikes bought, actually 4. One was some sort of AquaHydrawidedynagiezerglide, the other 2 were were Buell XBs. After my buddies got their 08s, I traded my 04 in on an 08 cause they were just a bit better. Plus one of my crewchiefs bought a used 9R.

I think HD miss it.

I really must be getting old after all. I really wanted to buy a Sportster this spring, though to go with, not replace, my Buell.

I will be test riding a Victory come thaw.

Court,
If you could email me some pics of the troops in their Buell swag, I would like to put some up at our dealership.

Thanks,Micah

By the way . . . . I've ALWAYS wanted to do FLEET WEEK in New York City.

How cool would it be to have the Buell Demo Trailer (I know you couldn't give rides) sitting at Pier 88 as 100,000 service folks hit the city . . . I'd have about a dozen Buell Racing Gals there and do the ultimate photo set up!

Court,
Thanks

Fleet Week in New York with the Buell Demo trailer would have been awesome!

My thinking exactly. . . I had it all scoped out. The Staten Island Home Port (the one DeNiro wanted to turn into a movie sound stage) is where many of the Navy ships dock.

Tons of room . . . enough to run 10 BattleTrax® events sameultimeously.

No way to do demo rides but if you brought in a couple race trailers, some gals, lots of bikes and made it a great place to hang out . . .you'd sell 100 bikes in the weekend and many more later. I'd have a band and make it a genuinely fun gig.

Unfortunately . . . it was NIH.
