Court,
Do you see an end to HD's Rider's Edge Program? No more Blasts, 883 too big & I don't see HD using another brand motorcycle?

H-D had Buell discontinue the Blast, remember?

I thought it was just going to be called a "Blast" and not have a brand.

Yup...not discontinued. They just removed it from the Buell line. Kinda makes sense now, huh? They obviously wanted to keep the little guy around (maybe for Rider's Edge?), but since their official stance is "Harley-Davidson has no plans to produce Buell motorcycles as Harley-Davidson products.", they needed to change it over before last Thursday.

We are all but pawns in the game of HD. ; )

Andymnelson,

I'm not trying to piss anyone off, but it would be just like the moco to ditch everything but the least capable machine from the Buell lineup.

hey, watch that 'least capable machine' quip

I'm by NO means a Blast! enthusiast, but here's da truth -

both clubman road racers & Bonneville habitues alike are discovering
that carefully-selected 350cc[yes]-to-650cc[yes] classes
can be successfully infiltrated with XB-tech & that oft-maligned H-D lunger

who'd've thunk it?

It's small and the power is limited, but it has centralized mass, under-engine exhaust, oil in the frame and kickin' brakes, plus an isolated engine mount to decrease vibration.

It's definitely Buell, not H-D. It's not the best and the brightest, but it's a good little bike.

Not a serious sportbike, though.

Like I said...my intent was to point out that Hardly likes lesser machines...not that the blast isn't a good bike, but you couldn't really compare a Blast to an XB if rider experience and price weren't an issue. Let me bash the moco for something gosh darn it I'm still pissed.

I thought i had read that they were shutting down production of the blast engine, could be wrong though.

So they are moving blast production to a different facility? I figured we would have heard about that somewhere.

Another market missed a blast built like the one in Firstbuell post would have sold.

The Blast was de-badged. Harley Davidson builds V-twins. From the looks of it, EB was happy to get rid of the Blast.
It is an orphan. It will be interesting to see if it does indeed survive (as it may).

FWIW (if anybody hasnt seen me write this yet) We had 4 Blasts racing at Willow Springs on Sunday. A 'stock' Blast, a Blast with Tuber forks and wheels, a Tuber framed Blast and an XBlast. Though I regret I dont have a good picture, the XBlast built by Ernie Snair, is a sweet looking machine. At home at the racetrack or on the showroom floor!
