This is indeed a sad day. I know Court will be letting his optimism raise to the occasion but I can't help but feel bad. This is certainly not the toughest thing to have ever happened to Erik and Buell but it is pretty bad. I also feel that this is a very short sighted decision on H-D's part. They need a sport bike to be a global player. They need a platform to attract younger buyers. If they rolled Buell into H-D, making sporty type bikes with H-D logos, but I could buy that. Just dumping it seems very short sighted. IN the immediate term it may help the stock price but it will actually hurt the bottom line. What did they say 150 million bucks written off; that would fund Buell for years. The MV Augusta deal I can see, tough for them to admit that buying it in the first place as a mistake but the longer they held them the worse it would get. The whole kill Buell deal I do not get at all. Maybe I have blinders on but I see it as a huge blunder. H-D will see erosion in market share and an aging group fo buyers. They will continue to struggle in Europe and the far east will simply not take off. That's my 2 cents. Court I teed it up for you now you get to whack it |

Well said. The bike in the garage is #68 in 40-some years of motorcycling. Started with the Euro stuff, drifted into Harleys aplenty, all 4-cams. They have not, nor will they ever, sell me a Big Twin. Buell was very much a world bike company, offering sport models, city models, and and the Uly. Very much like BMW, Guzzi, or Ducati. There might be something in the Milwaukee water that gives H-D tunnel vision toward the past. When we gray beards tip over, so will The Motor Company. They needed a Buell for the road racer or cafe racer in us. |

I refuse to believe it will end like this. |

Dave - I'm not too optimistic about this iteration of Buell. That's THIS iteration. I bet the story is far from over...it's just time for a new chapter. But only time will tell. |

I have faith in Erik.....We all should he has been through a lot. I first saw a Buell years ago and just knew. I truly believe that this is just another chapter in the Buell saga. I also think that somehow someway the brand will survive. I will help in anyway I can If Erik asks for investors I will be there with all of the money I can muster. Sorry had a few Boulevard Beers and have been upset all day over this. I just want to scream!!!! I wish Erik and the Elves all the best. I hope he is reading these forums and knows that we are all backing him...Pray for him....that is all I have...todd |
